Job Description

As Automation & QA Lead, you will be providing the strategic direction, best practice, and road map for achieving the desired outcomes. You would need a good understanding of the direction the field is taking within the context of Agile teams and DevSecOps and applied within a business services context.

Within this role you’ll be helping to lead and develop future test strategy as part of a fast-paced change program working closely with both Senior Engineering and Senior Architects from across the business.

On a day-to-day basis you will work closely with the Development teams and technical leads to help to embed the new approaches and best practise within our development teams.

Day to day accountabilities:

  • Direct the development and implementation of the Test strategy, methodology, discipline, and framework. 
  • Focus on an Automate first approach and integration with Modern DevSec Ops practises.
  • Provide leadership and technical expertise within functional and non-functional Test Automation and Testing
  • Responsible for defining QA strategy standards, implementation, and execution in development projects.
  • Defining KPIs and key testing dominant goals to ensure alignment to the Global strategy
  • Implement metrics into the teams to enable upward reporting to key stakeholders
  • Be accountable for the implementation of test automation frameworks and projects,
  • Mentor, and provide guidance to the QA automation developers and managers, across multiple projects, offshore and in-house.
  • Ensuring that the development teams adhere to the principles, guidelines and best practices of the QA strategy as defined.
  • Building and maintenance of quality standards as well as enforcing technical and testing standards.
  • Manage training and continuous learning of QA staff by means of short courses, conferences, meetups, certifications, etc.
  • Work with QA Engineering and Architecture figureheads to develop and execute QA strategies to meet and exceed department and corporate quality goals.
  • Be an advocate of Quality Assurance, Continuous Improvement and industry recognized Best Practices.
  • To perform automation/manual quality assurance and testing on various applications that are central to the verifications business.
  • Engage in adopting test strategy to ensure high-quality output and involve in evolving QA processes.
  • Design test scripts, test data, and execute test cases for complex technical and business solutions.
  • Bring a QA perspective to planning sessions, review and provide feedback and test effort on user stories.
  • Review QA related issues in a timely fashion (defects/tickets) and ensure that bugs are handle with severity & priority.
  • Build and maintain regression test packs for each release.
  • To become involved in Test automation as that becomes core to the QA model.
  • Create & maintain automated test suites & framework.
  • Execute test plans to agreed timescales and provide regular updates to the QA test lead/manager.
  • Proactively identify potential risks in achieving personal and project timescales and report appropriately

Qualifications

  • Strong experience of building, implementing and directing quality assurance principles across teams to deliver quality outcomes.
  • Experience working in an agile development environment.
  • A mature and professional individual who is self-motivated and enthusiastic.
  • Excellent communicator, influencing skills and negotiation skills to get management buy-in on ideas and concepts.
  • Have strong technical skills, both functional and non-functional, manual and automation, in a continuous delivery environment.
  • Strong communication skills with all the key stakeholders to ensure QA vision is understood, cascaded, and implemented correctly.
  • Flexible with the resilience to and work under pressure.
  • Proactive, strong-minded, quick thinker and confident.
  • Building and maintaining relationships across key technical and business stakeholders
  • The ability to prioritize work and tasks under pressure.
  • ISTQB / ISEB Testing Certified or equivalent experience
  • Testing – both manual and automated with a keen sense of what good looks like
  • Excellent analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, attention to detail, can-do attitude, self-starter & proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Highly organised with a strong eye for detail

Required Technical Skills/Knowledge

  • Extensive experience in Test Management and Automation Tools – such as JIRA, Zephyr, Selenium,SpecFlow, Postman, REST APIs
  • Strong experience in UIs and APIs automated test creation. (minimum 3 years)
  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, manual and automated test techniques, tools, processes and best practice
  • Possess a strong background in writing automated functional and integration tests in the Protractor test framework (Javascript/Typescript)
  • Understand where & when automation testing fits into the SDLC, specifically Agile (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
  • Familiar with good development practices to create and maintain clean, readable code to industry standards.
  • Experience defining and executing non-functional tests cases using standard testing techniques
