The CloudApps Team at Swift Navigation is responsible for Swift's cloud software services. It's an agile team, building Corrections Service to end-users by owning end-to-end cloud application software and supporting functionality responsible for the delivery of corrections to the user. 

Now a little more about what you could be doing as part of our team and contributing to Swift’s mission and vision. As a Staff DevOps Engineer on the CloudApps team you will be responsible for:

What You'll Do :

  • Setting up, managing, configuring - networking, security, scalability, features of the EKS cluster.
  • Implementing best practices for container orchestration and workload management.
  • Implementing strategies for horizontal and vertical scalability of applications.
  • Optimizing resource utilization to ensure efficient use of cluster resources.
  • Set up and drive technical directions of the project while mentor other engineers in the team on Kubernetes and cloud.
  • Reduce Operational Toil and maintain a high degree of automation by adapting IaC first and GitOps principals.
  • Automate the provisioning of environments using frameworks such as Terraform, Github actions. 
  • Implement and manage Observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, etc.
  • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines using one or more of the following: Github Actions, and Jenkins.
  • Conduct peer reviews of prospective code changes.
  • Work comfortably in an agile environment.

Who you are: 

  • You have proven experience as a Kubernetes Expert with a focus on scalability and optimization.
  • You possess in-depth knowledge of EKS architecture, deployments, networking, scalability/auto-scaling challenges and best practices.
  • You have created scripts and automation tools to complement Terraform deployments and streamline operational tasks. 
  • You have integrated Terraform scripts into continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for automated and consistent deployments.
  • You have a high bar for Automation and are well versed in either Go, python and other scripting languages.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability of distributed applications, including metrics, time series data, and alerting.
  • You have a good understanding of data structures and algorithms, and understand how to apply them to design pragmatic solutions.
  • You have an impact through your communication skills and love sharing your knowledge with others, helping them grow.

Preferred Skills: 

Kubernetes, Terraform, Prometheus/Grafana, CI/CD DevOps

Desired Skills/Experience : 

  • Experience with Gitops deployments using tools like ArgoCD 
  • Experience with software system architecture or microservices architecture design and implementation

Educational Requirements: Bachelor's Degree

Years of Experience Required: 10+ years

3+ years on Kubernetes

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $123,000 - $184,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
