The Position:

The Communications and Partnerships Analyst will lead the Communications and Resource Mobilization Strategies to support the implementation of the UNFPA in Georgia Country Programme to achieve the organization’s overall mandate. 

You will report to the Head of the UNFPA Office in Georgia

Job Purpose:

Working within a large and complex Country Office (CO) environment, you will be responsible for the following outcomes: 

You would be responsible for:

I. Leading strategic communications

  • Design, implement, and monitor the UNFPA Country Office’s Communication Strategy, in line with regional and global standards and strategy documents
  • Generate visibility for UNFPA’s positions and programmatic work in the country, by using a range of appropriate channels and partners, as part of the overall communications strategy; Identify opportunities for strategic communications and recommend appropriate action. 
  • Advise and guide staff on internal and external communication to promote the organization's Communication Strategy in line with the corporate standards.
  • Monitor and analyze the environment relevant to UNFPA’s work, including the perception of UNFPA in the media and among the general public, and identify and pursue opportunities for strategic communications interventions; 
  • Develop and maintain close contacts with national and international journalists, as well as influencers, content creators and civil society groups relevant to UNFPA’s mandate;
  • Draft and edit articles, press releases, human interest stories, social media content and other advocacy/information materials, and maintain an up-to-date documentation center for publications, press releases, and clippings, as well as photographic and audio-visual materials; 
  • Manage the Country Office’s website and social media accounts; 
  • Lead the production of advocacy and communication materials for national, regional and global campaigns, including for signature events such as the State of World Population report launch and World Population Day, and oversee the qualitative aspects of production to ensure the highest standards and compliance with UNFPA style and policies.
  • Collaborate closely with the UNFPA Regional Office communications team, including on contributing content to regional and global campaigns; 
  • Participate in the UN Country Team Communications Group and contribute to planning and implementing the joint UN Communication Strategy for Georgia. 

II. Design and implement the partnerships and resource mobilization strategy for the UNFP CO Georgia 

  • Design, implement, and monitor the Resource Mobilization and Partnerships Strategy by i) identifying opportunities for UNFPA’s strategic engagement with donors and partners; and (ii) developing outreach efforts to the donors and partners.
  • Identify new opportunities for partnerships with the academia, private sector, civil society organizations, and any other relevant stakeholders to ensure cooperation and resource mobilization around the ICPD Agenda in the country.
  • Manage partnerships with the stakeholders to achieve excellence in the management of the partnerships to ensure expansion of partners for achieving ICPD goals.
  • Advise the Head of Office on the partnerships/resource mobilization opportunities to maximize resources for the Country Program Implementation.

Qualifications and Experience: 

Education: 

Advanced degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or related field.

Knowledge and Experience: 

Two years professional experience in the field of communications and advocacy on social issues.

Experience in the design, implementation and monitoring of communications/advocacy and partnership strategies.

Experience in resource mobilization and partnerships is an asset.

Familiarity with UN procedures and working methods, particularly with UNFPA agenda, policies and procedures is an asset.

Experience using office software packages.

Languages: 

Fluency in English and Georgian; knowledge of other official UN languages, preferably Russian, is desirable.

Compensation and Benefits:

This position offers an attractive remuneration package including a competitive net salary plus health insurance and other benefits as applicable. Staff members in the National Officer Category that are locally recruited are compensated in accordance with the best prevailing conditions of service locally.
