Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician (Industrial Equipment Maintenance Technician)

Volvo Cars is seeking experienced Multi-Craft Maintenance Technicians (Industrial Equipment Maintenance Technician) to support our Body Shop, Paint Shop, and Final Assembly functions at our Ridgeville, South Carolina plant. 

The Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician is directly responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of production manufacturing equipment. 

Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician / Industrial Equipment Maintenance Technician job responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoots and repairs of complex equipment breakdowns involving mechanical and electrical aspects of machinery.
  • Inspects and assesses the functionality of production machines.
  • Analyze failures or equipment technical loss causes.
  • Perform preventive and corrected maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Ensuring compliance with appropriate safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications (experience and education)

Experience:

A minimum of 3 years directly related work experience in the following areas:

  • Hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
  • The ability to read and interpret manufacturing specifications or work instructions.
  • Knowledge of and experience with industrial electricity, mechanics, hydraulics, and/or pneumatics in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office, email), including knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (i.e., SAP or Maximo).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and program PLCs.
  • In lieu of work experience, military experience in a technical field OR an associate degree in a technical field will be considered.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Required).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in the Automotive industry.
  • Experience changing out bearing and motors.
  • PLC and Siemens system education and/or experience.
  • HVAC experience.
  • Robotics (ABB, DURR) experience.
  • Automated manufacturing.
  • Pumping system maintenance experience.
  • Conveyor system maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (i.e., SAP or Maximo).
  • Available to work any shift (weekends, holidays, and overtime).

All candidates must pass a written assessment.
