Primary Role

This operations internship experience will introduce you to the exciting career opportunities in the water and wastewater field at Pennsylvania American Water. 

The successful candidate will: Learn firsthand how water utilities support communities and provide resiliency and sustainability, Work with a team of professionals to provide administrative, analytical and/or technical support pertaining to routine day-to-day operations for a department and/or functional area. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide support to operational staff.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining files, records, drawings, reports, maps, charts, budgets and other data related to engineering and construction projects.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of technical reports, cost estimates and budgets.
  • Enter data and perform analysis in information systems.
  • Assist in preparing, analyzing and evaluating reports on a wide variety of items including variances related to specific department work processes, regulatory requirements, budgets, capital expenditures, work orders, departmental and/or organizational performance, etc.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Detail oriented to conduct thorough analyses and evaluations, render and implement timely decisions and recommendations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time across multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to seek input/feedback and coordinate with staff.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of computer programs, databases and software to support specific assignments. 
  • Demonstrated organizational and administrative skills.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Experience/Education

  • Enrollment in an Engineering, Environmental, Science, and/or Business undergrad degree program or relevant program from an accredited school.
  • Minimum of 2 years of completed course work.

Other Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass motor vehicle background check.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background check.
