As Optical Design Engineer in our Development and Engineering Business Line Applications you will be a key player in a multidisciplinary environment in which you will have to demonstrate your skills and knowledge.

Job Description

You will work in a multidisciplinary project (physics, mechanics, electronics, mechatronics, industrialization, supplier quality and software) that develops the Illumination part of the optical column for the Yieldstar metrology tool in

  • Analyzing requirements.
  • Specifying and designing optical modules and its components in collaboration with other competences (mechanics, mechatronics, electronics, software, industrialization), suppliers and sectors.
  • Providing algorithms towards software engineering.
  • Integrating, calibrating and testing the optical system.
  • Troubleshooting, analyzing root causes analysis and designing solutions.
  • Being part of the project team

Profile

to succeed as the Optical Design Engineer:

  • Qualified (by education or experience) in Applied Physics, or similar on at least Master level, or similar.
  • Job Grade 7-9.
  • Involved at least in 2 product development cycles within ASML and has knowledge in ASML Product Development WoW (process and related deliverables).
  • Experience in optics and optical design (from specifications till qualification/integration). Hands-on experience is mandatory. Eager to develop technical knowledge.
  • Capable of supporting development with optical design verification (e.g.: Zemax) and data analysis (e.g.: Matlab) tools.
  • Real affinity for multidisciplinary module development, including the DfX aspects (e.g.: cost, serviceability, reliability, manufacturability, supplier quality)
  • Possibility to design algorithms to support software calibration, qualification and diagnostics.

Context of the position

The Yieldstar Optical Column Source group is, within the sector Development and Engineering, part of the Business Line Applications. We develop and deliver solutions to measure properties of a features on a semiconductor wafer. These measurements are then used to control and improve the performance of lithographic systems that produce semiconductors devices. One of the main products in the portfolio is the YieldStar metrology tool. The Source group is responsible for the creation and shaping of the light source that will be used by the Sensor of this tool.
