Job Summary:

Summary: The mobile client software team is responsible for designing and building rich, full-featured voice and natural language apps that run on a variety of platforms, including smart speakers, IoT and home automation control, automotive, and mobile phones. We use a variety of technologies depending on what is best for a particular environment, such as Python, Java, HTML5/JS, and C/C++. In addition to embedded and client-side work, we also integrate with Nuance's cloud speech solutions and sometime provide additional server functionality ourselves. These client apps are frequently used as primary demonstration mechanisms for Nuance technology, so the team may be involved in trade show and customer demo support as well.

This will be a small team that must be reactive and versatile and willing to work with remote customers and employees. Engineers should come prepared to work on any area of a full software stack, from low-level C interfaces, to shell scripting, to GUI development, to server work.


• Development of multi-modal speech recognition and natural language software applications for smart speakers, automotive, tablets, smart phones, or other platforms
• Participating in design and architecture decisions, definitng protocols, technical documentation
• Prototyping and developing new proof-of-concept applications
• Occasionally supporting new business development and customer demonstrations
• Integrating with server teams


Number of Years of Work Experience:3-6 years software industry experience across multiple languages such as Python / Java / C / C++ design and software development

Required Skills:

• Very strong Python, Java, HTML5/JS, and/or C/C++ programming skills.
• Experience across the full stack of software development, including knowledge of common design patters for client- and server-based applications.
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal, is required. The team is distibuted across multiple locations and our customers are global.
• Able to work mainly independently as part of a distributed or remote team, or as a part of a small, highly motivated development team.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Android and/or iPhone/iOS software frameworks
• Experience with one or more JS frameworks like Node.js or AngularJS
• Experience with cloud application development
• Speech recognition or NLU/NLP experience
• Familiarity with Git or other distributed source control solutions
• Experience developing user interfaces

Education:BS or MS University degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
