The Learning Effectiveness Program (LEP) at the University of Denver is now hiring tutors for the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year. We need tutors who have a strong background in college-level Business, Engineering/Computer Science, Humanities, Languages, Mathematics, Science, and Social Sciences from entry-level to advanced level. This position works under the direction of the Tutoring Coordinator and LEP Associate Director. LEP Tutors assist students in building confidence, independence, and academic skills in a one-on-one setting. Tutors are also responsible for providing students with access to resources that will encourage them to achieve academic goals.
Position Summary
All LEP Tutors fall under the direct supervision of the LEP Tutoring Coordinator. Each tutor is assigned to a Lead Tutor who will act as their tutor mentor during their time as an LEP Tutor.
The Learning Effectiveness Program is a unique program that serves students who are neurodiverse learners. Our students are individuals who require competent and skilled tutors to assist them in learning the academic, and some non-academic, skills needed to be successful here at DU. All new tutors must complete the online New Tutor Orientation training as well as the first 5 hours of the CRLA Certification. The Learning Effectiveness Program participates in the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) Level I and Level II Certification (https://crla.net/index.php/certifications/ittpc-international-tutor-training-program), we expect that each tutor will participate in the required training activities to maintain our LEP tutoring standards and CRLA Level I AND II Certification status. These activities include, but are not limited to:
Hours worked are based on student request during fall, winter, and spring quarters unless approved by the Tutoring Coordinator.
This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

Work Schedule
This is a part-time, non-benefitted positions. The hours for this position are flexible. Tutors can set their hours of availability but will only be paid for actual tutoring time. Tutor hours are dependent up on student appointment requests. There are other paid opportunities such as Prep time, Admin time, and time spent on professional development activities required by the Tutoring Coordinator. Tutors may not work over 40 hours per week, or 80 hours per 2-week pay period.
All new tutors are required to complete the New Tutor Orientation online training and the CRLA Level 1 (Basics of Tutoring) online training before they will be allowed to begin tutoring.

Hourly Range

The hourly range is $18.29 - $21.25.
This position is eligible for federal work-study, which requires eligibility through the Financial Aid Office. This position is also open to non-work study funded students.

The hourly range is $18.29 - $21.25.
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, available market information, and course enrollment, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
