Draper is conducting a nationwide search for a highly innovative engineer/scientist with significant experience in coherent optical systems, including coherent detection algorithms and system design for optical communications and imaging, as well as development & test. The successful applicant can expect to work on interesting, complex tasks. Responsibilities will range from hands-on technical work to project management, including:  proposal development, system concept modeling and simulation, system design, electronics and algorithms concept design, interface definition, overall implementation and test, and project management.


M.Sc./Ph.D., or equivalent degree, in physics, mathematics, electrical engineering, optics, or computer science. The applicant should have 10+ years technical experience in the field of coherent optical systems. The applicant's background should include instances of technical leadership in modeling and/or developing coherent optical & opto-electronic systems. The applicant must be accustomed to project coordination and proposal development duties, as well as hands-on engineering work and be able to independently stand up the infrastructure required to develop hardware and software (as well as test procedures) for coherent optical systems. Experience with MATLAB is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Must be willing to travel. The applicant must be highly motivated with a willingness to learn and participate in an exciting team environment. Must be eligible for a U.S. security clearance.
