Job Posting TitleLabor & Employment Staff Attorney (IST) - Chicago
Job Description Summary
Seyfarth Shaw LLP is seeking a part-time hourly attorney to join our exciting Innovative Staffing Team (IST) in the Labor & Employment Department. This position will be based remotely with the option to work in our Chicago office as needed or as desired (as space provides). Candidates ideally should have at least three years of increasingly responsible employment law experience and be excited to work in a collaborative team, delivering high quality work. The IST is an elite “swat team” of lawyers within Seyfarth who want the flexibility of an hourly position but want the advantage and excitement of working with the best employment team in the country. We now have over 20 IST lawyers around the country and we are attracting former in house lawyers, former partners in firms, and former associates who want the experience of working on exciting matters but not the demands of a full time, on track position. We are expanding this team and hope you will join us.
Candidates should have familiarity with federal court practice, as well as with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Department of Labor, and other federal, state and local government administrative agencies. Candidates should have the ability to handle a practice that includes handling DOL Audits and EEOC charges, including defending investigations, preparing position statements, defending clients in fact-finding conferences and on-site visits, representing clients in mediations and conciliations, and negotiating settlements. Candidates should also have some litigation experience, including drafting responsive pleadings, handling all aspects of the discovery process, and drafting motions, including motions for summary judgment. We are willing to consider candidates that live in nearby cities.
Note To Agencies and Applicants: At this time, Seyfarth Shaw LLP will not be accepting applications submitted through search firms for this position. All qualified candidates must submit their own applications to be considered for this position
