The Futures Fund is a social impact investment fund that supports the development and expansion of high impact health, housing and social service models and enterprises within VOA and as joint-venture partnerships with External Community Health entrepreneurs. The Futures Fund provides catalytic capital, training and coaching to test new ideas, launch social enterprises and expand successful service lines that improve the social determinants of health. 

VOA is seeking an Intern in support of The Futures Fund, a subsidiary of VOA. The selected candidate for this role will have an interest or experience in Community Health, Social Entrepreneurship, Impact Investing and Measuring Impact. The Futures Fund Community Health Incubator is first-of-its-kind entrepreneurship program at VOA to accelerate social enterprises that improve quality, equity, and access to care for Medicaid and at-risk populations. The program includes business training and coaching, as well as grants and potential venture capital investments to help drive projects from ideation to scaling stages.

This position is full-time (up to 40 hours per week) and has the capacity for fully Remote Work Schedules

The internship is unpaid, however, a stipend is provided

Primary Responsibilities:

The Community Health Incubator Intern will play a vital role in supporting the Incubator. The person in this role will support the Sr. Manager, Social Impact Development with the operations of the Incubator, support the development communications for social media channels, data collection and analysis, evaluating processes and working closely with the Incubator partner SEED SPOT and supporting various tasks as assigned. Primary responsibilities are - but not limited to - the following: 

  • Attend all Incubator related activities and assist the Sr. Manager on tasks as needed
  • Engage with Incubator participants to foster joint venture partnerships with VOA Affiliates
  • Contribute creatively to support the PR strategy and produce content for Incubator webpages, external industry media, and intranet
  • Support the administration of the Incubator, including scheduling and communications between Founders, Mentors and VOA Affiliates
  • Schedule and interview venture founders before the completion of the program to assess satisfaction, program improvements, and present findings to Futures Fund key staff and boards
  • Track, report and improve upon the Impact metrics and Key Performance Indicators
  • Research similar Incubator programs and their funders to expand the Community Health Incubator’s fundraising efforts
  • Tap into your knowledge and experience by providing additional program support with external participants as needed

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience with basic data analysis
  • Interest in impact investing, startups or community health
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods
