Join the Sophia CPU Micro-architecture and Performance modelling team !

The CPU Micro-architecture and Performance modelling team is an international team of CPU experts. We cover all activities related to CPU performance in the design centre, from early microarchitectural investigations up to performance verification of the final product.

We have a variety of internships to offer you. All selected subjects are highly challenging projects, requiring deep interest in advanced processor features, excellent knowledge of computer systems, strong analytic skills, and a high degree of autonomy and creativity.

Proposed subjects

  • [2021 – P1] – CPU Perfect prefetching – Model development and limit studies
  • [2021 – P2] – CPU – Pointer prefetching – Model development and studies
  • [2021 – P3] – Adding Linux System Call emulation in a CPU Performance model
  • [2021 – P4] – Implementing latest Arm architecture extensions in a CPU Performance model

We are looking for students in their last year of Masters (BAC+5 or equivalent), in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent relevant field, and available for 5 to 6 months.

We are looking for students with the following skills or experience:

  • Use of UNIX and shell programming.
  • Strong knowledge in C programming language.
  • Ability to express ideas and communicate effectively.
  • Fluency in English.

Other desirable skills include:

  • Microprocessor/CPU microarchitecture knowledge.
  • Assembly language programming, ideally in Arm assembler.
  • Knowledge of French.

Salary – 1750 euros / month
