The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Fairbanks International Airport (FAI) is seeking a Division Operations Manager/Deputy Airport Director to join our team and help us Keep Alaska Moving

What You Will Be Doing: 

This position reports to the Airport Director and is a crucial part of the FAI Leadership Team, offering support for the comprehensive oversight of FAI's administrative and development functions, covering key aspects such as planning, directing, organizing, and administering various facets. A paramount objective within this capacity is to uphold and guarantee the safety of the traveling public, emphasizing the critical importance of maintaining and improving safety protocols within the airport environment. 

This position serves as the Deputy Airport Director and is entrusted to act as Airport Director in the event of her absence. During such instances, this includes assumption of duties, making strategic decisions, supervising day-to-day operations, and ensuring a continuous compliance with state and federal regulations. The dynamic nature of this position necessitates not only a comprehensive understanding of airport management and operations but also the ability to act decisively in high-stakes situations, showcasing leadership qualities and a steadfast dedication to ensuring a safe and efficient experience for the traveling public, airport tenants, stakeholders, and employees.

In addition to the minimum qualifications, a AAAE Certified Member or AAE is preferred. The ideal candidate will also possess the following competencies:

Minimum Qualifications

Three years of professional experience in the broad occupational fields of the division or department and two years of supervisory and/or managerial experience, which may be concurrent with the professional experience.

Special Note: 

"Professional experience in the broad occupational fields of the division or department," means experience in one of the professional areas that compose the division's purpose and function to ensure the applicant has the knowledge of the work of the division to be managed.

For example, in an administrative services division, qualifying professional experience could be in any one of the professional areas that compose business administration; such as accounting, procurement, human resources, and so on.

In a line division, for example the Division of Mining, Land, & Water in the Department of Natural Resources, qualifying experience could be in any one of the professional areas that provide for the use and protection of Alaska's State-owned land and water, such as geology, hydrology, forestry, natural resource management, and so on.
