Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Director for Marketing and Communications (DMC), the EOSE Web and Digital Content and Project Manager (DCPM) is a key member of the marketing and communications team with a primary focus on social media content creation, web site maintenance and strategy. This role is responsible for managing content across the entirety of Berklee City Music digital channels, including social media, websites, campus digital signage, and institutional email communications to include designated initiatives with Berklee PULSE and EOSE. With guidance from the DMC, the DCPM works with constituents including and not limited to Berklee Inc at-large, City Music Boston Clubhouses, and Berklee City Music Network to develop and execute impactful content that supports Berklee City Music and EOSE goals, builds brand identity and awareness, and engages target audiences. This role regularly uploads, refreshes and maintains current content on Berklee College of Music--Berklee City Music websites, social media channels, through email campaigns, analytics, and recommends strategies to improve performance and drive results.

As project manager for the marketing and communications team, and with oversight from the DMC, the DCPM demonstrates leadership by furthering Berklee City Music as a movement for arts education through timely campaign strategies with KPIs that include but are not limited to developing and maintaining of a plan to engage for City Music alumni, attending (and taking students as needed to) press junkets, working with Berklee’s marketing and communications divisions and teams on writing press releases, and establishing a strategy for social media.

The DCPM manages marketing and communications team administrative duties (and as assigned) by the DMC. The DCPM supports the DMC supporting scheduling, calendaring, event planning, communications and more. It is essential that the DCPM be self-motivated, a self-starter and demonstrate a commitment to projects, a sensitivity, integrity and confidence in an effort to effectively represent EOSE, and a zeal for supporting youth from diverse backgrounds and the creative arts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Increases opportunities for the Berklee City Music program, EOSE and College that engages with multiple sectors in numerous communities.
  • Copywrites new and ongoing programs and endeavors that advance the City Music mission through communications awareness strategies.
  • Develops a system of managing the brand and logos required to be shown within digital and print programs, among partnership organizations, donors and constituents’ website.
  • Participates in all major annual City Music concerts and events. Participates in all major annual City Music concerts and events.
  • Exercises standards of confidentiality and code of ethics.

Possible Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works collaboratively with all relevant campus departments, vendors, external persons and organizations.
  • Represents the EOSE and/or City Music at on and off-campus events as circumstances require and when requested by the DMC.
  • Assigned duties as necessary.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred in marketing, communications, ; a PMA with experience in journalist, grant or business writing and administration with nonprofit management or comparable area is a plus.
  • A minimum of three years of experience working as a professional; a demonstrated experience as a project manager with demonstrated success of establishing and managing initiatives to fruition, a plus.
  • Demonstrated passion for engagement and/or support of positive social change initiatives for the greater good. Experience with urban youth program development, a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience developing business strategies; experience recruiting businesses and/or individuals who join to support a theme, cause or initiative.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, presentation and oral/written communications skills bilingual verbal and writing skills a plus; demonstrated excellence in communications with cross-generations with intercultural awareness, experience in connecting with adolescent youth and young adults a plus.
  • An understanding of a mission-driven work; experience in making an impact through mission driven work, a plus.
  • Demonstrated competency in discernment in process improvement, decision making, problem solving, risk and time management, critical thinking with integrity, leadership and service skills, strong collaboration skills.
  • Strong business acumen and work and service ethic with the demonstrated capability to focus with a full commitment to the Berklee City Music mission and core values, EOSE division and college
  • Demonstrated high regard, respect and value for diversity, inclusion and equity for all peoples and socio-economic strata, to especially respect for cultures representing the youth, families and teachers we serve

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Evidence of strong communications and project management skills with the ability to motivate and build consensus with most anyone, and most any group. Must have strong writing skills and ability to make strategic plans.
  • Utilize strong project management skills. Must also be able to prioritize responsibilities, working under high-stress situations in a calm, orderly, organized, and positive manner, meeting deadlines, acting with the appropriate level of responsiveness to team requests. A demonstrated experience in team collaboration where common goals were achieved. Good organizational and time-management skills, with close attention to detail. Creative problem-solving and initiator skills. Experience managing several employees; has skills to motivate employees, youth, families, and constituents into action. Organized work habits with attention to detail and an excellent organizer.
  • Experience with some budget management.
  • Familiarity with contemporary project management, constituent management systems (like Salesforce) and office systems technology; also, a familiarity data base management, social media communications, and word processing software, and spread sheet applications.
  • Understanding of opportunities and means of creating social value with music resources. Familiarity with today's music and arts styles and relevant music styles of the past, leading musical and industry figures, and the structure/organization of the music industry. Comfortable with becoming familiar/broad relevant working knowledge of Boston, Greater Boston, and where the Berklee City Music Network community partners reside.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; a positive attitude, and high level of tolerance for interaction within the office and with student, faculty, and staff throughout the college. Ability to conduct all communications in an articulate, cordial, and professional manner.
  • Positive, professional attitude within the office, online live meeting and streaming environments and the college. Dress and decorum consistent with a professional office environment. Must be available to work some nights/weekends, as special circumstances require.

Founded in 1993, Berklee City Music is an education program that harnesses the energy of contemporary music and the performing arts to reach underserved 4th to 12th graders and their teachers. As a pre-college program, the Boston-based program is currently comprised of approximately 3,200 students, over 65 dedicated Berklee College faculty and Berklee alumni teaching artists, and experienced, highly motivated, and specialized administrative staff. The Network is comprised of over 47 member sites and affects over 65,000 youth annually. The DCPM contributes to the growth development and holistic vision of the Berklee City Music international Network. SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, ETC.:

The DCPM is expected to participate in all major City Music concerts and events, to including but not limited to: the Summit, annual Completion Ceremonies and Open Houses, the City Music Academies Annual Concert, and the City Music Summer Scholarship Concert. Programming occurs in cycles during the fall, spring, and summer semesters. Work schedule includes weekdays, evenings, and weekends as circumstances require.

This position is in-person given the interaction with college work-study students and constituencies.
