POSITION MANDATE

The Director of Resonance Impact Advisory (RIA) plays a critical role in achieving and maximizing top-line revenue and gross margin for all impact advisory (IA) services contracts. They will be in charge of effectively and efficiently using company billable personnel and workflow management. They will also ensure that RIA projects deliver outstanding technical work to our commercial clients. They will also contribute to and help implement the company’s strategy for RIA growth. Working with the MD of RIA, the director will play a key role in operationalizing the RIA strategy for growth and client expansion – turning concept notes and strategies into impact driven projects for the private and philanthropic sectors.

The Director of Impact Advisory is responsible for helping to lead and grow Resonance’s Impact Advisory practice, which supports changemakers in corporate sustainability, foundations, and non-profits. The director will also play a key role in supporting the complementary Resonance Partnerships Accelerator.

The Director is responsible for helping to develop, articulate, and execute Resonance’s Impact Advisory strategy, to make Resonance the most sought-after impact-dedicated consulting firm by 2025. They will be expected to grow revenue through aggressive business development while continuing to invest in the firm’s talent and systems to ensure Resonance delivers transformative results to its clients and the stakeholders it serves. 

An integral member of the Extended Leadership Team, the Director reports directly to the RIA Managing Director. They will contribute to thought leadership in areas ranging from sustainable supply chains to innovative finance to ESG strategy and sustainable agriculture. The director will also play a key role in mentoring consulting staff on the team as well as supporting a CRM system of client growth.

This is a full-time position with travel to developing countries to support project implementation activities. 

OUTCOMES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Business Development (60%)

  • Co-lead business and market development efforts that achieve revenue targets, including identifying opportunities, developing relationships, scoping prospective engagements, and developing proposals
  • Develop and sustain trust-based relationships with C-level executives that yield targeted revenue results.
  • Grow relationships with existing clients, supporting new areas of exploration within their unique supply chain challenges and aspirations, identifying new areas of work, and achieving overall business growth
  • Expand our position among prospective corporate clients through blog posts, case studies, and articles demonstrating Resonance’s leadership in building partnerships.
  • Lead proposal development and scopes of work for new or existing clients that showcase current services and offer innovative approaches to existing business and sustainability challenges. Provide feedback regarding frameworks, approaches, and qualifications to improve the likelihood of success and translate our client work into business development techniques
  • Support the Resonance Partnerships Accelerator with private sector and philanthropic organization growth and expansion

Client Relationship Management and Delivery (20%)

  • Manage a defined number of new and existing client relationships and accounts that yield a targeted number of bids, project wins, and new client revenue by developing and executing projects or partnerships that assist clients in realizing their sustainability and climate impact goals globally and at a local level
  • Serve as strategic counsel on client projects by identifying partners, building project concepts across a variety of stakeholders, and creating evaluation and learning structures for shared value initiatives
  • Build and facilitate meetings and workshops aimed to align on common goals or remedy challenges for multi-stakeholder partnerships
  • Develop pipelines of potential partners that can extend and amplify our clients’ work, including donors, NGOs, development banks, impact investors, and peer companies
  • Support internal team by structuring assessments, research and analysis and reviewing high quality deliverables for key client workstreams
  • Own project budgets by maintaining and tracking all project spend and staff utilization

Project Delivery and Management (10%)

  • Develop progressive, fact-based, and achievable sustainability strategies and operating models to enable corporate strategic objectives
  • Manage the delivery of advisory services to clients and attest that client satisfaction remains at high levels
  • Oversee delivery of high-quality, adaptable project management and technical assistance across the firm’s project portfolio
  • Achieve annual revenue and gross margin goals and ensure billable targets are achieved to ensure the firm meets gross margin and profitability targets.
  • Ensure excellent project implementation and project management, resulting in high client satisfaction and NPS scores.
  • Direct the planning and execution of project management workflow, including matching staff with appropriate assignments
  • Ensure the development of strong and positive working relationships with clients and partners.

Team Leadership 10%

  • Supervise a team of goal-achieving high performers with expertise across a range of technical sectors and service offerings and project management.
  • Execute staff engagement strategy by providing mentorship and guidance to staff on all facets of work planning and execution to fulfill the company’s government contract and meet the needs of our government clients.
  • Ensure that each team member participates in role-relevant learning and development that helps drive competence, technical excellence, team camaraderie, and cohesion.
  • Contribute to and help drive the company’s strategy for government service growth. 
  • Enable and support organization in driving social, economic, and environmental impact.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Advanced degree in international relations, economics, business administration, or related field
  • At least 13 years of management consulting experience
  • At least 10 years of experience in project management and business development
  • At least 5 years of experience with private sector engagement, food security, agriculture, enterprise development and trade/completeness
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated track record in facilitating cross-sector collaboration, preferably for international companies, NGOs, donors or foundations operating in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and/or the Middle East
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong team leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to travel up to 30% on short notice
  • Eligibility to work in US

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Fluency in French, Spanish, or Arabic preferred
