Overview

All who are selected to participate in CFR’s Blavatnik Internship Program and Robina Franklin Williams Internship Program receive training in the field of foreign policy and international affairs as well as skills training in writing, research, program planning and much more.

The Foreign Affairs, Marketing Design intern will learn the ins and outs of publishing and marketing a magazine. They will develop and deepen their graphic design skills for a reputable brand and will be exposed to marketing strategies, composing of digital operations, social media, analytics and more. The intern will also learn about niche marketing as we try to target specific communities. The intern will develop office, organizational, and strategic marketing skills.

CFR internships are paid, require a 14 - 18 hour commitment, and are filled on a rolling basis.

CFR’s summer internship program gives interns the opportunity to choose whether to work in our office in a hybrid capacity (half in the office, and half remote), or on an offsite fully remote basis. 

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

  • Develop and execute display ad assets for various platforms
  • Create assets for Foreign Affairs social channels
  • Stage and deploy email campaigns to a variety of audiences
  • Research information about competitive set uses design to achieve business goals

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate student with educational concentration in graphic design, marketing, communications, media studies, or other related field
  • Students should have completed the equivalent of four semesters of college coursework (not including AP classes in high school) by the time they begin an internship
  • Previous experience with graphic design, portfolio is required
  • Experience in Adobe suite, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, or Indesign
  • Knowledge in UX and UI design a plus
  • Strong understanding of typography 
  • Ability to work with multiple departments

Pay Rate

$17.00 per hour
