We, the Azure Core Compute team in IDC, pride ourselves in working without boundaries to enable customers realize benefits of leveraging cloud computing. The Migration and free. Modernization team within Azure Core works on the Azure Migrate set of services. These set of services are the newest addition of services being built by the team and are driven by the all-important momentum of migrating and modernizing customer workloads from on-premises to Azure. These are extremely high scale hybrid services and their goal is to help customers discover, assess and then migrate their workloads from wherever they are to Azure and modernize on the way. This is an area that is top of mind for the Azure organization as a whole and is an extremely visible, crucial and fast-moving area of investment for the team.

We are looking for a technically savvy and 'learn-it-all' Software Engineer II to contribute to the future of our platform’s migration offerings, while learning all the nuances of designing, building, shipping and managing cloud scale hybrid Azure services.   • Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of features.
  • Contributes to the identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product area with little oversight.
  • Creates and implements code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable.
  • Contributes to efforts to break down larger work items into smaller work items and provides estimation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of professional experience designing, developing, and shipping software using any of C#, Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript or Go. 

Other Qualifications:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of Managed code or object oriented programming. Experience with distributed computing or Cloud Services a definite plus.
  • Foundation in data structures and algorithms.
