Role Description & Responsibilities

The SIMULIA Fluids Workflow Management team is responsible for supporting the development and deployment of Fluid workflows for all SIMULIA products for all industries. In particular, the team purposes, builds, executes, and summarizes the ability of SIMULIA CFD products and roles to execute standard and emerging workflows. The findings are shared with both the R&D development teams as well as the field teams.

We are looking for an Industry Process Expert to join our team. This is a 6-month, paid co-op position with a flexible summer 2024 start date. This position is based at the Dassault Systemes North America HQ located at 175 Wyman St, Waltham, MA, 02451. The selected candidate is expected to be present on-site for the full duration of co-op.

As an Industry Process Expert, the candidate will support the Fluids Workflow Management Team’s mission in:

  • Evaluating existing as well as developing new industrially-relevant turbomachinery workflows for multiple industries including, but not limited to, Transportation & Mobility, Aerospace & Defense, and Energy & Materials industries. 
  • Perform validation and verification on canonical cases in order help the R&D development teams with solver improvements and enhancements targeted for turbomachinery applications.
  • Exploring opportunities to automate workflows and optimize designs with 3DEXPERIENCE.
  • Develop and document best practices for industrially relevant workflows. Machine learning component could be included in the role as well, if the candidate possesses required skillsets as well as a strong inclination towards machine learning.
  • The candidate will have the opportunity to work with both Navier-Stokes, and Lattice-Boltzmann based CFD approaches. Opportunities to publish technical papers at internationally renowned conferences will also be available to the candidate.

Qualifications

  • PhD Student in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong understanding of fluid (incompressible and compressible) and turbulent physics is essential. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of CFD algorithms and physics modeling is required. 
  • The position requires the ability to execute self-directed work once the scope is defined.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal is essential.
  • Knowledge of turbomachinery flow physics, eg, pumps, compressors, turbines, highly desirable.
  • Experience in CAD modeling either in Solidworks or CATIA highly desirable. 
  • Knowledge of cavitation phenomenon in pumps is preferred, but not necessary.
  • Knowledge of optimization techniques is a plus.
  • Familiarity with machine learning models for engineering simulations is a plus.
