Valmont is looking for an experienced Sr. Copywriter/Content Strategist to bring fresh ideas, a mastermind of words and out-of-the-box thinking to our content and campaigns. The position is for the Irrigation Division. The Sr. Copywriter/Content Strategist works alongside all members of the Marketing Team to develop content to be used globally. The primary responsibility is writing and editing copy across multiple mediums (e-mail, web, social media, blog, video scripts, press releases, editorials, advertorials, brochures, case studies, direct mail, print ads, radio, internal written communication, testimonials). This position also manages all social media, blogging and media relations. This position is responsible for editing content written by advertising agencies, freelance writers, Valmont staff and its sister companies to ensure a consistent voice. The incumbent actively participates in brainstorming sessions and creative development efforts to drive strong conceptual solutions. The position consults with subject matter experts to obtain, develop and clarify technical information related to products and services. The incumbent must shift copywriting approach, as appropriate, for any and all media, as well as drive and manage an overall copy strategy to ensure the consistent voice is applied to all mediums. Superior communication skills, organization and working in a fast-paced environment is required. We are looking for a writer who likes variety and thoroughly understands the digital space.

Basic Qualifications (Required):

  • Minimum of five (5) years of agency or in-house marketing experience
  • A bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English or writing emphasis
  • Strong conceptual abilities, remarkable writing and editing skills, and a solid knowledge of the digital landscape
  • Desire to work collaboratively as part of a larger team in a fast-paced environment
  • The ability to effectively and persuasively present sometimes complex information in a simple, easily understandable way
  • Ability to incorporate SEO best practices into digital and web-based copy
  • Ability to produce copy that reflects our brand principles (voice, tone)
  • Ability to assist with developing content reuse model and strategy
  • Comfortable working within a content management system to edit copy on webpages
  • Thorough knowledge of AP Style
  • Ability to work with little direction by knowing the client's goals and performing self-directed research
  • Willingness to travel occasionally
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to produce copy that engages, builds relationships and encourages taking action
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and work on multiple tasks with a variety of departments, divisions and team members
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment
  • Flexible - can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines

Preferred Qualifications (Optional):

  • Portfolio that demonstrates writing for digital and print mediums
  • Two (2) years’ experience in social media content marketing (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube and Blogging)
  • Strong knowledge of modern digital marketing frameworks, channels, methodologies and tools
  • Experience with lead generation as part of a marketing strategy
  • Knowledge of Sitefinity, or similar, content management system
  • Knowledge of Hubspot, or similar, inbound marketing platform
  • Experience working with project tracking and collaborative tools (i.e. Confluence, JIRA)
  • Agriculture/manufacturing experience
