About this opportunity 

The Software Quality Engineer will be part of the Product Innovation Software (Bio-Mechanical Software) team at San Jose location. This team's mission is to develop the next generation of 3D algorithms, to engineer the shape of our customized, mass-production appliance and increase the applicability and efficacy of Align clinical treatments. The position requires an innovative mindset, ability to adapt to projects that have not been done before.

In this role, you will… 

  • Ensure quality of the business-critical 3D software with objective testing.
  • Come up with test strategies for 3D software. Create test cases.
  • Execute manual tests for 3D software, visually inspect 3D objects, find patterns with strong passion to get to the bottom of the things
  • Operate as a part of a scrum team focused on research and development: actively participate in sprint planning, demo and retrospective, attend daily standups
  • Represent SQA in project level discussions, collaborate with teams from other locations and functional divisions
  • Act as a stakeholder in product definition from conception to initial release to mass scaling, contribute to definition of product success criteria
  • Work collaboratively with product owner in analyzing specifications and deriving detailed requirements
  • Work closely with Software Development Engineers in Test to automate tests for 3D software functionality
  • Iterate with stakeholders, business owners, software developers, mechanical engineers and internal end-users to understand different aspects of the features
  • Understands the end-to-end process
  • Work with bugs throughout their life-cycle 

In this role, you’ll need … 

  • 5+ years in software testing mostly in manual testing.
  • Experience testing 3D applications.
  • Testing experience in unique domains such as complex desktop applications, hardware, 3D / CAD / CAM software, VR / AR, IoT, etc.
  • Experience working in Agile-oriented teams.
  • Thorough understanding of the role and best practices of QA, testing processes and methodologies
  • Analytic way of thinking, ability to systematize information and learn complex things quickly

Desirable (Plus)

  • Familiarity with 3D tools/CAD applications like Solidworks, Geomagic, Magics is a strong plus.
  • Experience in startup or research team
  • Experience working in distributed team
