The Center for Urban Science and Progress (CUSP) at NYU Tandon School of Engineering invites applications for a full time, non-tenured, renewable faculty position, at the rank of Industry Assistant or Industry Associate Professor, with a start date of September 1, 2024. New York University (NYU) is one of the top private universities in the United States.

CUSP seeks candidates that can contribute to its urban science and policy line of expertise in the following areas: data, policy and decision making; civic analytics, innovation, technology and cities; digital geography; computational social science; data visualization, and data informed urban policy. We are interested in candidates with a focus on the intersection between cities, science, technology, innovation and public good.

Qualifications

Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., degrees in engineering, computer science and the social sciences with a focus on data informed urban policy studies, public health, urban environmentalism and sustainability or digital geography), and a strong record of industry or public-sector experience, technical innovation, and/or scholarship in CUSP’s areas of focus. Ideal candidates should have a strong record of excellence in teaching and mentorship at all levels, from introductory to advanced studies. We especially seek faculty colleagues who have multi- or transdisciplinary academic backgrounds and whose work is concerned with themes of urban science and policy approaches to cities and complexity, with attention to social/civic engagement, governance, sustainability, livability, resilience and/or justice.
