About The Team

The Trust & Safety (T&S) team at TikTok helps ensure that our global online community is safe and empowered to create and enjoy content across all of our applications. We have invested heavily in human and machine-based moderation to remove harmful content quickly and often before it reaches our general community.

We are looking to hire a Human Resources Business Partner Lead in Japan to join our growing Human Resources team. Based in Tokyo, this highly visible role aims to provide strategic partnership and consultation to the growing group of business teams in the APAC market, including Japan. By understanding the unique needs and challenges of diverse teams across APAC, HRBP leader will develop HR strategies that support business growth and expansion in the region, thus playing an instrumental role in shaping the organizational culture, and supporting business growth across diverse teams in the APAC region.

As an HR Business Partner Lead, you will support your organization’s leader and the HRBP team based in different countries within the region across the entire talent lifecycle. The role will be expected to strategize and collaborate with business leaders, corporate, local, and Center of Excellence (CoE) HR team members to identify growth opportunities, engage and retain employees through HR initiatives, and aid in establishing an efficient organizational design.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with business leaders to translate business strategies and objectives into an HR roadmap.
  • Coach leaders on people-related matters including talent assessment, development and succession; organization effectiveness, and high-performing team dynamics.
  • Provide guidance and assistance in the implementation of business restructures, workforce planning, and headcount modeling.
  • Collaborate with workforce planning and Talent Acquisition teams to design hiring strategy and headcount deployments.
  • Enhance employee development & management throughout the year by providing coaching, mentoring, and timely feedback.
  • Execute a goal-setting agenda with 360 performance evaluations and oversee the formal performance review and calibration process.
  • Leverage the COEs (HR Centers of Excellence) to develop and implement programs that foster employee engagement, D&I, and success.
  • Ability to work across APAC time-zones and travel within the APAC region to engage with diverse teams, build relationships with local stakeholders, and gain firsthand insights into regional operations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • An experienced HR Business Partner with a minimum of 3 years of experience in people management.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to influence and communicate effectively across all levels of an organization.
  • Demonstrated progression and increased scope in a matrixed organization.
  • Deep business acumen and the execution know-how to build and grow businesses through the ongoing development and support of its people.
  • BA/BS degree required
  • Proficiency in Japanese and English is required.
  • Be able to adapt to a fast-paced working environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experienced working in a high-growth company
  • Prior experience supporting and working in a tech or advertisement industry is preferred.
  • Course work in specific areas of HR expertise a plus, including coaching certifications or equivalent
  • Demonstrate strong communication, engagement and influencing capability
  • Be self-motivated, diligent, responsive, accountable, agile and resilient
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity for managing a regional team
