As part of our dynamic Access Network Systems team, you will directly impact our global subscriber’s access to the internet through our high capacity broadband satellites. You will do this by collaborating with other team members on project initiatives, with emphasis on traffic and network performance technologies, establishing project requirements, writing test requirements, testing code, systems, and end-to-end performance, automating deployments using Ansible/Jenkins/scripting, troubleshooting issues in access network systems, writing new feature requests, writing bug reports, writing operations guides and maintenance procedures.
 
This role requires research, an open mind, and a desire to learn. You will be responsible for ensuring the software and configurations released into production enable the service offerings and system capabilities that keep ViaSat on the leading edge of satellite broadband capabilities.
You will work with both cloud and locally hosted systems, utilizing some of the latest virtualization and security technologies. You will also work with Linux, KVM, Ansible, Jenkins, Wireshark, and other tools on a daily basis in a DevOps environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years' professional experience
     
  • Linux knowledge and experience – solid understanding of how to navigate, use, administrate, and troubleshoot
     
  • Basic networking knowledge – solid understanding of IP, DNS, DHCP, and other common networking protocols
     
  • Aptitude for self-learning, able to research and dig deep into the details of a topic
     
  • Good problem solving skills
     
  • Bachelors of Science in EE, CS, or relevant engineering field or equivalent experience
     
  • U.S. Citizenship 
     
  • Travel up to 10%

Preferences

  • Scripting/coding experience in one or more of: python, bash, perl, C, C++
  • Jenkins/Ansible playbook deployment experience
  • CICD/DevOps experience
  • A clear and practical understanding of the interrelationship between OSI layers
