About the Role:

The Srivastava Lab and Zholudeva research team at the Gladstone Institutes and UCSF are seeking a Research Associate to assist in studies focusing on cutting-edge neurotrauma research. The successful candidate will support students on the Zholudeva team to characterize spinal neurons derived from human stem cells that can be used to repair the injured spinal cord. Specifically, the candidate will assist with experiments involved in stem cell maintenance and differentiation, molecular and electrophysiological approaches to characterize differentiated cells, as well as evaluate their therapeutic potential in animal models of spinal cord injury and disease.

Gladstone Institutes is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our dynamic research teams as Research Associates at either Level I or Level II. As a Research Associate, you will play a vital role in advancing our cutting-edge scientific projects. What you will do:

  • Execute laboratory experiments including molecular (DNA purification, PCR, molecular cloning, sequencing), cellular (murine and mammalian cell culture and differentiation into neural tissues), and histological (tissue sectioning, staining, imaging, and analysis) responsibilities.
  • Assist in laboratory experiments including aseptic technique during surgeries as well as pre- and post-surgical care.
  • Execute laboratory experiments under the guidance of principal investigators and senior research staff.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure a safe and organized work environment.
  • Collaborate with fellow team members to contribute to the success of ongoing research projects.
  • Stay updated on relevant scientific literature and technologies to enhance research capabilities.
  • Ordering, stocking, and general laboratory management and maintenance may also be required.

What you will need:

Research Associate I

  • 0 years of related experience for individuals with a BS/BA in a related field
  • 2+ years of experience for individuals with an AA/AS in a related field
  • or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Research Associate II

  • 0 years of related experience for individuals with an MS/MA
  • 2+ years of related experience for individuals with a BS/BA
  • 4+ years of related experience for individuals with an AA/AS
  • or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Hiring Range:

RA I $25-$29/hr.

RA II $66,560- $78,306K
