RAVEN SOFTWARE, developer of numerous award-winning games, including contributions to the blockbuster Call of Duty franchise [Call of Duty: Online, Black Ops, Advanced Warfare, Ghosts, Modern Warfare, WWII] is looking for a passionate and talented Junior VFX Artist to join our team as we continue to develop the best games in the industry. This position will lead to being an integral role in the creative design, asset production and technical implementation of visual effects and design.
   
To be considered for this role, you must have either worked in game development or have graduated with a qualification in game asset production. Most importantly you will have enthusiasm for learning and an affinity with Particle Effects. You will have strong art skills in composition, texture creation, animation, a good sense of timing and an aptitude for critical thinking and analysis. You must also show boundless creativity, extensive games knowledge, and a deep passion for playing videogames.

Responsibilities:
•    Demonstrate artistic skill in creating texture assets for effects
•    Demonstrate the ability to analyze real life phenomena and translate into animated particle systems
•    A critical eye and appreciation of cinematics when placing effects
•    Finding and dealing with technical issues while using performance metric tools
•    Learning to debug and solve technical issues that arise
•    Working with Level Designers, Art Directors,  and Team Leads to create FX for stunning environments and memorable moments
•    Responding quickly and having a positive attitude towards work critiques

Qualifications:
•    Experience in game development
•    Some understanding of the limitations and expectations of next-gen hardware
•    Good working knowledge of Maya/Max and Photoshop
•    Ability to communicate effectively with Designers, Artists, and Programmers
•    An intimate knowledge of Art skills (e.g. knowledge of composition, color, 3d modeling, and painting)
•    An animator’s sense of timing, action and reaction

The Ideal Candidate will also have:
•    Strong background in modeling, animation and/or traditional art
•    Graduated with a game development related qualification
•    High-end rendering of particle effects and fluid dynamics
•    Specialty post-production work for game cinematics
•    Experience with After Effects
•    Experience and comfort with one or more scripting/programming languages
•    Ability to assist with other art tasks, including light 2D, 3D, or concept tasks
•    Basic Understanding of real-time physics systems
