General Construction Superintendent - Facilities

What You Will Do:

Our New York, NY office is seeking highly motivated General Construction Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents for upcoming projects of various types and sizes dealing with all facets of interior work including but not limited to the following: HVAC, bathrooms, plumbing, electric, drywall, flooring, etc. Prior experience working for a general contractor preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • 1st responder to new work on an On Call contract. Work throughout the 5 Boroughs, but mostly in the Bronx.
  • Client facing – must be able to be professional and communicate clearly with the client and other stakeholders.
  • Driving between sites checking on progress and field team of inspectors.
  • Filling in at project sites as needed. On these days, write daily field reports and provide daily photography of work activities and installation methods. Confirm installed materials are per approved submittals, project specifications, and manufacturer’s requirements.
  • Catalog and file field documentation appropriately with Procore software
  • Oversee manpower schedule (Approximately 12 inspectors, sometimes more, sometimes less)
  • Coordinate with field staff that they are scheduling construction activities with 3rd Party Inspectors, Contractors, and Owner staff.
  • Coordinate closely with Project Manager regarding construction activities, job progress, quality verification, and field oversight.
  • Provide updates and report to Project Manager on a daily basis.
  • Annotate field changes with contractors, Design Team and Client. Mark up drawings accordingly in the field.
  • When applicable review drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs and RFI responses.

Education | Experience:

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Shall have a baccalaureate degree preferably in engineering/architecture and/or construction related field from an accredited college or university and eight (8) years of full time experience as a technical specialist in construction and design related field; or
  • Shall have an Associate degree from an accredited college or university and ten ( I 0) years of full time experience; or
  • Shall have a comparable combination of education and experience (no degree), 12 years experience
  • Must have 8 years of experience in vertical construction projects to include educational facilities and/or residential high rise.
  • Knowledge of PMS (project management software) a must such as ProCore, EBuilder, Kahua, etc.
  • Shall be capable of providing clear, concise written and oral communication.
  • Effective communicator who is able to maintain and foster positive relationships with the public entities, architects, government agencies, inspections departments, utility owners, and company employees
  • Understanding of cost control and schedule management
  • Experience with the public sector and educational facilities preferred
  • Either already have 30-hour OSHA certification or willing to obtain it through the company
  • Must be able to use technology such as Microsoft Word, Excel
  • Shall have a valid driver's license and motor vehicle
  • Shall have the ability to understand and interpret contract documents such as specifications, drawings and shop drawings;
  • Shall have the ability to be flexible with schedule when needed to accommodate varying shift work (day, evening, overnight, weekends). 
  • Shall have experience in new and renovation type construction
