Job Description


  • Supervision of equipment installation to meet GE standards, verifying correct cable terminations and system commissioning
  • Working with the customer appointed Erection Sub-contractor in meeting the project schedules
  • Involves travel to customer sites and to attend internal GE product technical training
  • Following all EHS and Regulatory rules and laws and total compliance to GE and Customer standards
  • Expertise with motors and controls, PLC’s, Drives and Protection devices. Excavator experience would be advantageous
  • Expertise in handling various test equipment for DC dragline and shovel control
  • Fundamental understanding of the mechanical operation of Draglines/shovels/Blast-hole Drills & OHV Trucks
  • Support in preparation and submission of “AS COMMISSIONED” drawings and Operation & Maintenance Manuals
  • Provide support to Commercial Operations and Project Managers for quick resolution of issues related to commissioning
  • Ensure uncompromised compliance to GE Spirit and Letter policies and statutory requirements, function as an ambassador of the business and uphold GE integrity standards in all respects

Role Summary/Purpose

Field Service Engineer to be based in WPV or central to the Witbank area. The successful applicant will be based from a home office or Midrand office as required.

Essential Responsibilities

Qualifications/Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree or Electrical trade and a Diploma in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in commissioning or maintenance and excavator control systems and rotating equipment
  • Must have valid authorization to work full-time without any restriction in the role’s location
