About the Role:   

   

Food & Wine is looking for a contract Social Media Editor who will be responsible for executing content and promotional strategies across the brandsâ social media channelsâincluding Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Threads, Facebook and Xâto support traffic and engagement goals and drive audience expansion, growth and engagement.    

   

The ideal candidate will feel very comfortable using data and insights to help guide content creation, understands how great brands and publishers stand out in feeds and knows how to create engaging posts that drive results.   

   

This is a 40 hour/week contract position with a rate of $30/hour.    

   

About Your Contributions:   

   

  • Handle day to day posting on Food & Wineâs Facebook and X accounts.   
  • Report on trends and performance of content on those platforms.    
  • Curate content for social promotion using data, trends, and insights.    
  • Report on tests, traffic and platform metrics (engagements, impressions) and use these insights to contribute to content ideation discussions.   
  • Monitor social and video analytics to help inform the brandâs social, site and video strategy.   
  • Write social post copy thatâs optimized for each social channel, with the goal of driving engagement and traffic. Maintain the brandsâ standards and voice on social media channels.   
  • Assist in content planning, creation and execution for social channels.   
  • Pitch content ideas, attend editorial planning meetings and occasionally write stories, as needed, to support social media goals.    
  • Help to execute campaigns around editorial tentpoles and social-first franchises.   
  • Work with editorial and design to create custom graphics when relevant for promotion.   
  • Have the opportunity to participate in digital video creation and promotion including but not limited to brainstorming topics, writing scripts, doing background research and appearing on-screen.   
  • Keep on top of social media trends and explore new, emerging platforms, incorporating new platform features to optimize social media strategy.   
  • Monitor accounts routinely, surface issues that arise on any platform and assist with community management.    
  • Be comfortable liaising with platform partners and communicating platform-specific needs.    
  • Authentically engage with the brandâs followers on our social media platforms to foster community and engagement.    
  • Be up for any project, from writing photo captions to resizing images and producing Reels.   

   

   

About You:   

 

  • Bachelorâs degree in Journalism, Marketing, Public Communications or relevant professional experience preferred   
  • 2-3 years of professional experience in social media for a food or lifestyle brand.    
  • Experience working in Facebook Insights, TrueAnthem, Dash Hudson, Google Analytics and Looker strongly preferred   
  • Excellent writing skills and editorial judgment; experience writing engaging copy specifically for digital and social media   
  • Experience with visual storytelling and basic photo editing (Adobe Creative Suite)   
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.   
  • A love for brainstorming new ideas, have a sharp eye and can shoot video.   
  • Expertise in consistently writing creative, on-brand copy for social posts.   
  • No reluctance to experiment, try new things and learn new tools and features.    
  • Experience with and enthusiasm for using analytics tools to create reports and inform decision making.    
  • Flexibility to be available for social support as needed for special events, which may occur on evenings and weekends.   
  • A love for all things related to food, cooking and being in the kitchen and a deep passion for connecting people through social media   
  • A self-driven attitude; high degree of collaboration, organization, and positivity; the ability to thrive in a fast-changing environment.
