We are seeking a Director of Finance to be based in our Baltimore headquarters. The Director of Finance will join a well-functioning and high-performing financial team with solid systems and processes in place. He/she will work closely with the President and/or CEO of the firm to manage our diverse debt financing needs for both new acquisitions and existing property refinancing. He/she will also develop new and manage existing relationships within the lending community. This position requires the Director to work with financial analysts to underwrite individual deals, obtain loan quotes, negotiate term sheets and work inter-departmentally to close a significant number of diverse loans in a timely manner. Additional responsibilities include:
Oversee all areas of the company's debt finance functions, including loan origination, lender compliance and reporting, lender correspondence & inspections. Establish and maintain lending relationships throughout the company’s geographic markets, including both retail and multifamily lenders. Prepare financing packages including spreadsheets and financial projections working with internal financial analysts. Present loan options including supporting underwriting and analysis to ownership. Negotiate loan terms and lender term sheets. Take the lead, working with various departments within the organization to close each loan. Assist the Acquisitions Department with financing assumptions and timing for new acquisition underwriting. Work closely with the Asset Management, Investor Relations and Accounting departments to ensure optimal communication and maximum productivity and efficiency. Assist in coordinating the collection of due diligence information required by lenders. Obtain lines of credit and supplemental financing as needed.
Prospects for this position will ideally have strong loan origination and capital markets experience and relationships. at the property and entity level. This individual has ideally worked with a private, fully integrated real estate company. He/she will be a strong leader and work collaboratively across all levels of the organization. Personal characteristics will include humility and a servant/leader orientation. Additional qualifications include:
5-7 years of progressive experience in commercial real estate project-level financing & capital markets work. Finance experience should include both multifamily and retail properties. Possess a current network of lending relationships in our geographic markets. Advanced skills in MS Excel and Argus. Exceptional analytical skills including valuations, waterfalls and acquisition modeling. Excellent verbal and written communication. Strong negotiation skills and a high level of attention to detail and a respect for our current relationships required. Need a flexible, self-starter who can handle multiple projects at one time. Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team is critical. BS/BA degree required. MBA, MS in Real Estate or MS in Finance preferred.
