Position SummaryEXAMPLES OF WORK:

  • The student assistant will operate under the supervision of Political Science faculty to edit and caption recorded lectures for curricular use. 
  • Review recorded lectures, edit for clarity and effective communication.
  • Meticulously edit and verify the closed captioning transcripts. 
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Must qualify as federal work-study eligible.
  • Excellent customer service skills, as well as effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office computer applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to learn video editing software such as Panopto.
  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions accurately and to respond to supervisor requests and emails in a timely manner.
  • Responsible, reliable and punctual.
  • Ability to learn assigned tasks readily, to adhere to prescribed routines, and to develop some skill in the operation of common office equipment.
  • Completed a minimum of 48 hours of course work toward a bachelor’s degree (junior or senior standing).
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Comfortable working within a team, as well as independently.
  • Interest in assisting peers with career concerns.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to present information to groups.
  • Experience using of MS Teams and/or Zoom. 
  • Experience in transcription or video editing and captioning

Work Schedule 

Work Schedule TBD, depending on the student’s schedule of classes. Student assistants must commit to 10-20 hours per week with specific hours assigned to be determined.
