SHREVEPORT CONVENTION CENTER/MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM

POSITION: Senior Accountant

DEPARTMENT: Finance

REPORTS TO: Accounting Manager

ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for a Senior Accountant at the Shreveport Convention Center/Municipal Auditorium. The Senior Accountant is responsible for the daily activities required manage the financial elements of operating the facility and/or the events by performing the following duties personally or through Director of Finance:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assists in the development and implementation of facility goals and priorities relating to financial management, budget, accounting, purchasing, and/or payroll in compliance with State and Federal law, and ASM Global policies and procedures.

Processes Payroll & Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and other accounting functions.

Prepares and performs bank reconciliations. Responsible for staffing of Parking Garage during events.

Maintains general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, cost, property, and operating expenses, and insurance records.

Coordinates preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting. Works with auditors in verifying financial information/procedures.

Process and distribute invoices as required, including reoccurring invoices

  • Collect on outstanding invoices
  • Maintain and reconcile all Accounts Receivable general ledger accounts
  • Distribute all W-9, make sure they have the building address’s
  • Assists in the development and implantation of facility goals and priorities relating to financial management, budget, accounting in compliance with State and Federal law, and SMG policies and procedures.
  • Prepares and performs ticketed event settlements.
  • Prepares and performs account reconciliations.
  • Supervises and assists with the preparation of customer reporting and invoicing. 
  • Assists with preparation of financial statements for the Client and ASMG lobal Corporate, and other financial reports, including monthly statements, Annual Budget and Annual Report.
  • Directs the installation and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures.
  • Maintains general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, operating expenses, and insurance records.
  • Reports and maintains Tax Compliance.
  • Maintains and distributes funds from the petty cash drawer.
  • Prepares and analyzes information for financial statements and reports.
  • Reconciles Food & Beverage activity.
  • Ensures proper cash handling procedures are followed in the box office and food & beverage areas, overseeing and Supervising the procedures of the vault clerks.
  • Assist Box Office Manager and serve as backup when the box office manager is out of the office, assisting with all aspects of box office management such as building shows in the ticket system, supervising ticket sellers, and managing box office day of show activities.
  • Processing mail, vendor invoices & deposits
  • Maintains contract labor timesheets and invoices.
  • Maybe required to work special events where all hands on deck are necessary.
  • Accounts Payable:
  • Collect and distribute to proper departments all payables for approvals
  • Assist director in enforcing all payable procedures
  • Enter all properly approved payables into Peachtree module
  • Print checks, obtain proper signatures, and distribute
  • Field all calls and emails correspondences from vendors
  • Maintain and reconcile all Accounts Payable general ledger accounts
  • Submit all 1099s annually

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance from a four (4) year college or university;

Experience in facility management, event management, and/or hospitality industries preferred;

Must have extensive knowledge of general and cost accounting;

Excellent math skills; high aptitude for figures;

Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills;

Ability to work with and maintain highly confidential information is required;

Effective supervisory skills; Directly supervises employees in the Finance Department.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, the individual should have some computer skills. Knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel is essential. Knowledge of ADP and Sage software preferred.

  • Requires ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, in addition to normal business hours.

NOTE: Due to the nature of our business this is not an 8-5 Monday through Friday position. This position is a very flexible schedule position requiring nights, week-ends and holidays. Maybe required to work special events where all hands on deck are necessary.
