The Staff VP of Payment Innovation Strategy will be a part of our Provider Alignment leadership team. Our Provider Alignment team is developing and refining Anthem’s innovative payment models aimed at reducing the cost of care while rewarding improvements in quality and access. Anthem’s current portfolio of payment models includes the Enhanced Personal Care Program, engaging accountable care organizations and primary care practices across our commercial and Medicare lines of business; as well as episode-based bundled payments, designations of centers of excellence, and pay-for-performance initiatives for a broad range of providers.

Location Preference: Washington, DC but open to other Anthem locations.


Staff VP of Payment Innovation Strategy


Responsible for strategic input and development of key policy and operational areas related to payment innovation programs, including data analysis and processes for portfolio management, common technical and infrastructure solutions across individual payment models, ASO employer strategies and reporting, program tracking and evaluation, provider network and product strategies, engagement of external stakeholders, and consumer experience strategies.


Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the Vice President and other Anthem executive leaders in strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Aligning provider collaboration with consumerism and member experience.
  • Identifying and ensuring all operational impacts of payment innovation programs are engaged in development of required solutions, processes, workflows, job aids, training, and communication.
  • Identifying technical capabilities required to operationalize payment innovation programs.
  • Leading and managing analytics to support payment innovation functions.
  • Collaborating with Enterprise Portfolio Management Office and Information Technology to ensure the delivery of technical and operational capabilities that meet the identified business requirements.
  • Partners with local market Provider Engagement & Contracting and national and local sales leadership to ensure the smooth implementation and customer adoption of payment innovation programs.
  • Hiring, training, coaching, counseling and evaluating performance of direct reports.

Qualifications

  • Requires an MBA, MHA, or similar degree; 10+ years of management experience in healthcare operations, budgeting and forecasting, process improvement, technical development processes, planning and project management, and provider contracting; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Strongly prefer 2+ years of management experience.
