Job Description:

This is a part-time (24 hours per week, 60% effort) professional / unclassified position at the National Center for Disaster Fraud (NCDF), a program within the Stephenson National Center for Security Research and Training (SNCSRT) at LSU. The Fraud Analyst will be based in the Washington, D.C. area working in-person for the Federal Housing Finance Agency Office of the Inspector General Hotline. 

Job Responsibilities:

Reviews and evaluates incoming Hotline FHFA OIG complaints to determine that the initial allegations of fraud, waste, and/or abuse pertain to Federal Home Loan Banks and or Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSEs - Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae). (20%)

Performs additional initial investigative actions to further develop and corroborate the initial complaint after NCDF’s process. (20%)

Work with NCDF personnel to provide continuous quality control and training as well as work with NCDF supervisory staff to ensure integrity of statistical reporting of Hotline complaints. Other duties as assigned by FHFA OIG HQ staff. (20%)

Synthesizes complaint information and refers incoming complaints to the appropriate federal agency or OIG for appropriate attention. (20%)

Monitor the timeline of all Hotline cases to ensure that cases are opened and closed timely and managing responses on Hotline cases to determine GSE nexus within 7 days. (15%)

Responding to inquiries from FHFA-OIG FOIA Office and requests for clarification or further action from OIG Investigators/Hotline Supervisor. (5%)

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of investigative experience or equivalent experience as a white collar criminal investigator. Detail Knowledge of essential elements and processes used to investigate allegations of fraud. Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and follow-up, and excellent verbal/written communication skills are necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

1-2 years working in a hotline setting is a plus. 

Special / Physical Qualifications:

Must have the ability to pass a federal background check. Travel may also be required. This positions is located in Washington, D.C. 

Physical Demands:

Physical ability and eye-hand coordination necessary to use a computer terminal, copier, telephone and other standard office equipment; ability to sit in the same position for extended periods (5.5+ hours a day) at a time using continuous hand motions when entering data into the computer system.
