Description of Work 

The Senior Assistant Registrar supervises the registrar information systems development team staff members on projects that support the Office of the University Registrar’s primary goals in improving the office’s technical services to the campus community and improving students’ time to degree completion. Train development team on system tools to enhance the technological services offered by the department. This includes but is not limited to eForms, workflow, system communications, reporting, student to-do lists, SIS work-centers, navigation collections, and self-service electronic dashboards. In addition, this position performs research and statistical studies with student data. Identify trends using business intelligence tools and communicate information to appropriate individuals. Collaborate with other internal and external report writers/data analysts. Provide reports and data extracts to the campus community. Ensure data and reporting integrity by identifying and resolving data issues. Train others on student information system data structures and operational concepts.

This position collaborates with campus resources to design and create operational data views to simplify the fulfillment of campus data reporting needs. Assists in developing new data structures that support the degree management system and help train campus end-users in the consumption of that data.

The Senior Assistant Registrar addresses policy and procedure questions and concerns from faculty, students, and staff. Ensures feedback is given promptly or shared with appropriate members within the department. Other duties assigned by the Associate Director.

Minimum Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree plus 3 years experience in working with business intelligence systems; equivalent education/experience considered. Must be proficient in query writing and data analysis. Experience working with business intelligence systems. Experience supervising other individuals’ projects or experience leading data/technical initiatives that impact a large user community. Excellent communications and writing skills. Ability to work well with people at all levels of organization. Ability to concentrate and exercise good judgment in sometimes ambiguous situations. Must be self-directed and able to translate general goals and policies into concrete actions. Ability to remain calm in high pressure or time sensitive situations. Knowledge of business intelligence systems and query writing software. Excellent communications and writing skills.

Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree preferred. One year of experience working in higher education environment desirable. Knowledge of a college environment and the structure of the institution. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
