This role reports to our Vice President, Business Development.  If you have a history of success developing and maintaining business relationships in the defense industry in Asia and enjoy the challenge of the hunt as well as the thrill of the close, this could be a great role for you!
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Vice President of Business Development, the Director, International Business Development helps drive the accomplishment of the Sector’s key business development objectives across the business portfolio and the world. 
  • Develops and maintains business relationships with International customers, related partners and Representative/Agents. 
  • Develops teaming relationships with International companies. 
  • Serves as capture manager for International procurements, including managing B&P costs and proposal content.  
  • Provides win and price strategies and marketing guidance to proposal teams. 
  • Develops International marketing strategies and long-range business plans.
  • Ensure that key proposals are completed in a timely, cost effective manner and that their content accurately reflects business development guidance and win themes.
  • Participates in the preparation of the Strategic Plan, Qualification and Pursuit Plans and Go/No Go reviews.
  • Support trade shows.
  • Maintains strong interface with lead Business Development resources worldwide, participates in customer visits, product and process presentations, guidance and assistance.
  • Inputs to, and participates in, the formation of strategic plans, qualification plans, Go/No Go reviews, and capture plans.
  • Coordinates reviews of above plans, ensures they are current and being adhered to.
  • Must be capable of providing competent presence in any country, or area where a need exists to augment a business development person to achieve an urgent tactical or strategic objective.
  • Manage Business Development support staff and functions:
  • Coordinate and expedite business development activities related to contracts, export licensing, offset issues, corporate and Government compliance programs, PIEA, NDA, Teaming Agreements, MOUs and in-house compulsory training programs to help ensure that the Business Development staff is meeting its commitments in this regard
  • Direct and coordinate Sector related advertising and promotional material and product displays for international shows.
  • Ensure that the Business Development and support staff maintain standard business development presentation material and keep it current
  • Manage and coordinate the gathering and documenting of market and competitive intelligence and information on market, product and technology trends
  • Maintains a detailed knowledge of all aspects of existing and evolving regional underwater warfare threats, countermeasures, military needs, practice, doctrine, and relevant emerging technologies, economic, political and industrial trends.
  • Maintains a constant awareness of competitor’s technologies, product offerings, strengths and weaknesses, business base, pricing, trends, focus and direction.
  • Maintains knowledge of industrial “players” and potential partners.
 
Experience/Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Engineering preferred.
  • 10 years increasingly responsible assignments within the Aerospace/Electronics industry
  • Detailed knowledge of International military marketing/sales
  • Strong knowledge of undersea technology, markets and community (worldwide);
  • 5+ years of international marketing experience
  • Excellent English communications skills both written and oral
  • Underwater acoustics and sonar knowledge
  • Knowledge of International procurement policies and practice
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to multi-task effectively
  • Willingness to travel and independently support customer meetings
