Primary Responsibilities:

  • Expertise in complete product development and own the optical design of various aircraft interiors/exteriors lights and other lighting products.
  • Perform design and development of Free form optics, Reflectors, Lens ( TIR, Fresnel ) and Light guides for Interior & Exterior lighting systems for aerospace applications.
  • Perform design and development of backlight systems for Interior lighting applications.
  • Photometric simulations and calculations to determine the required illuminant for optical system as well as implementation in the product in collaboration with the construction.
  • Perform LED modelling, ray tracing and operation regime..
  • Develop prototype and perform measurements for light intensity, luminance, color, etc.
  • Perform power budget calculations, LED reliability analysis, color stability, brightness correction and ageing correction.
  • Schematic creation and providing guidelines for PCB layout design.
  • Providing alternative parts, process, material in the existing design related to optical due to obsolescence.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers and designers in understanding workflow, design process, budgets and deadlines for completing the design and qualification
  • Performing detailed comparison of obsolete components and the new components selection and analyzing the circuitry impact. .
  • Proficiency in MS tools.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 4-6 years of relevant Industry experience.
  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Optical/Optoelectronics
  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics/Power Electronics/Electronics & Communication, with experience in optical design and optical products

Primary Skills:

  • 2+yrs experience in optical modeling / ray tracing software tools: Helios or Light Tools or TracePro
  • 2+yrs experience in handling optical equipment like Spectrometer, Luminance meter, Lux meter, etc
  • Knowledge of optical components like filters, reflectors, lens, diffusers and optics, optoelectronics and Illumination optics.
  • Knowledge of photometric & radiometric quantities, formulae and conversions.
  • Knowledge in color science and ANSI standards. 

Preferred skills:

  • Macro development and automation.
  • Experience in Labview, Maltab and C.
  • Knowledge on RRCA process
  • Experience in CAD tools like Altium, Allegro, Pspice and LTspice.
