Programming Director Kids, Central and Eastern Europe

Primary purpose of the position
The Programming Director Kids, Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) will be responsible for managing all programming activity for CEE Kids feeds, acquisitions, dubbing, as well as presentation scheduling and operations.
Key responsibilities

  • Ensure that programming decisions for our Kids channels in Central and Eastern Europe are made in the context of a clear programming strategy that has been financially quantified
  • Proactively seek shared content (acquisitions, pre-buys, co-productions), manage content acquisitions, negotiating of program deals. Produce deal memos and work closely with the legal department on the production of contracts
  • Work closely with internal departments:
  • PR and Marketing to devise best programming stunts, campaigns and launch strategies to support ratings, channel franchises and new content launches, including getting programs featured and covered by relevant media
  • Digital to support the launch of our games and apps to continue to grow franchises and priority shows cross platform by working closely in the scheduling of content for our websites and you tube
  • Commercial in order to support their programming pitches to clients
  • Research in order to analyse ratings, understand kids and market trends, analyse brand and content affinity and take necessary actions or schedule changes to make improvements
  • The central Kids Programming team (in London) to communicate programming needs and strategies for current and future linear and non-linear kids branded services for the region (OTT,SVOD,AVOD). To align priorities and management of franchises across all platforms

Skills and experience

  • Notable relevant work experience (scheduling, programming and acquisitions experience)
  • Proven track record of executing deals
  • Strong programming background, awareness of how the content is utilized
  • Knowledge of the German/Eastern European media industry, excellent understanding of the Kids content industry
  • Drive and determination, strong interpersonal skills
  • Leadership and negotiation skills are a must
  • Financial acumen: must be able to record and track budgets
  • Very good English language skills and MS Office knowledge
  • Strong communication skills; ability to work well with different functions, levels, personalities and nationalities; comfortable to challenge people, whatever their level
  • Recognized within the industry, with a good level of contacts among the key distributors and producers across the world would be an advantage
  • Experienced in attending trade markets such as MIP and MIPCOM is desirable
  • Influencing and persuasion skills: ability to write and deliver clear and compelling memos and presentations; ability to inspire confidence among senior management would be preferred
  • Ability to work with other international feeds is desirable
  • Experience in launching new channels or branded destinations would be beneficial
