The Trimble Transport and Logistics business unit is looking for a Software Developer to join our team in Leuven, Belgium. Working on market-leading software and with our proprietary hardware you will have experience of developing software in Java and Android mobile applications. You'll become part of a friendly and engaged team of talented professionals who are changing the way the World works.

What You Will Do:

Our Carcube is a state of the art mobile terminal for truck and transport. Because of growing and evolving markets, customers want more features and more devices to be connected to the cube. Examples are tachographs, scanners and card readers. Drivers also need more and more feedback from their system, like fuel consumption and driving style feedback. As a Software Developer your focus will be on enhancing and adding those features to the CarCube embedded device product plus the Android apps, adding those features to the Carcube embedded device and or our suite of Android applications.

  • You participate in the complete product development cycle starting from analysis, architecture, design, coding, unit integration and system testing of software
  • You provide ongoing sustaining support to the product, addressing end to end feature enhancements.
  • You review and work with others (Product Management, Technical Architects, Development Engineers, Software Development Manager) to confirm and track feature requirements through to delivery.
  • You are a member of an agile development team, we are working with scrum methodology.
  • Experience with agile development is an asset
  • You report to the Software Development Manager

What Skills & Experience You Should Bring:

  • Full professional proficiency in English is a requirement
  • Have a Belgian work permit
  • You have a professional experience within Java programming, including Android development, and have worked within a Linux environment
  • You have experience with multi-threaded development.
  • You are mindful about having limited resources at your programs' disposal (bandwidth, RAM, Storage).

What Skills & Experience You Could Bring:

  • You are familiar with Telco network protocols (2G/3G/4G) (5G a plus) and possible issues related to network behavior
  • You are familiar with protocols for driving peripherals (camera, printers, BT)

This open position is located in our Belgian headquarters in Leuven. There is a possibility to work according to our hybrid model which means you can work two to three days per week at the office and the remaining days from home. We will discuss this with you based on your preferences.
