This role is a mix of responsibilities including program/project planning and leadership for several portfolios, and direct team management of several Program Managers, Project Managers and Scrum Masters. This role operates at both a strategic and a tactical level and requires a close partnership with ST and business stakeholders, collaboration on strategic and tactical program planning, project planning and execution, and project delivery. This management-level position also requires strong capability in building effective program management teams, and improving the business of ST by streamlining processes and innovating on program management industry best practices.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

Portfolio Planning and Execution:

  • Leads annual operational and financial planning and quarterly reforecasting efforts for various Corp Tech portfolios, requiring:

  • Project cost estimation and resource planning for the various delivery teams who will deliver the capabilities
  • Aggregated financial planning (including reforecasting) and prioritization for the portfolio(s).
  • Supports ongoing Corp Tech Intake Process by reviewing and assessing requests for new work submitted to relevant portfolios during the financial year. Assessment includes alignment with VPs and Directors on priorities, scoping the technology work including business value, high-level estimates for the work, identifying what planned work would be impacted if the new request is prioritized in the portfolio.
  • Develops and maintains a portfolio roadmap that illustrates in-flight and planned projects for the portfolio(s), highlighting known project dependencies and synergies within the projects and across Starbucks Technology.
  • Oversees tactical planning and day-to-day management of the portfolio(s), including portfolio financials, prioritization, and assignment of program managers, project managers and scrum masters: both partners and CWPSP resources.
  • Maintains a deep level understanding of projects within the portfolio(s) and their cross-project dependencies and synergies.
  • Reviews and approves key project management deliverables for programs/projects within the portfolio(s) and related or dependent projects in other portfolios. Provides feedback, coaching and guidance to the Program and Project Managers and Scrum Masters within their Portfolio team.
  • Drives program and project management, ST governance, and SDLC process improvement across the portfolio(s) or across the Corp Tech Solution Delivery team.
  • Produces timely, transparent and informative program and project status reports and quarterly updates
  • Ensure that business stakeholders and sponsors receive timely and accurate information about the progress and health of the projects within portfolio(s)
  • Where needed, sources incremental CWPSP resources following our standard non-partner sourcing practices.
  • Partners closely with Corp Tech VP’s, directors, resource managers, peer managers and business stakeholders on all of these activities

Leadership:

  • Builds a high performing program portfolio team by making good hiring decisions, setting clear individual and team expectations, holding team members accountable to their commitments, and fostering career growth.
