Description of Role

We are looking for career-minded professionals with global perspective to join the Mumbai Based Database Analyst, Portfolio Solutions Group. The Portfolio Solutions Group is a comprehensive multi-asset business, with activity across all asset strategies and types (traditional and alternative), through solutions that span fully liquid (public assets), comprehensive (public and private assets) and fully private portfolios. The role requires a self-motivated independent thinker who enjoys solving complex problems.

Key responsibilities

As a part of Mumbai Based Database Analyst, Portfolio Solutions Group, the individual shall be responsible for the following

1. To ensure that all databases are managed, organized, and updated effectively and accurately.

2. Be in charge of maintaining the code that cleans and transforms the data from 3rd party vendors into our database

3. Tailor the front-end experience for accessing our data resources to the needs of team

4. Assist the team in the centralized database management and work on longer term projects to further build out our data capabilities

5. Maintain data load from multiple sources and ensure loading errors are quickly identified and resolved

6. Support the team on various data requests, including those which could be manual in nature.

7. Build creative solutions to accurately update, manage, and tailor the database for the team’s unique needs.

8. Update to the relevant stakeholders on progress and design changes of database systems and operations.

9. Serve as a technical resource to team regarding database resources and tools.

Qualifications

Experience and Skills

1. In depth knowledge of the global investment management industry.

2. The ability to work effectively in a thoughtful, collaborative team environment

3. Strong communication skills, being able to interface effectively with bright quantitative colleagues as well as non-technical audiences 

4. Thrive in a fast paced, highly collaborative environment

5. Passion for aligning financial returns with societal impact

6. Excellent verbal and writing skills in English

7. Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines

8. Possess attention to detail within the larger context of a complex investment ecosystem

Qualification / Technical Expertise

1. Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree would be a plus) in Accounting, Finance, Business, Science or related fields

2. Familiar with database creation, maintenance, and manipulation of large datasets

3. Working knowledge of data science tools (SQL, XML, MATLAB, R, Python, XML, etc.)

4. 1-3 years experience in capital markets and investment topics, either through work experience or educational background and familiar with database creation, maintenance, and manipulation of large datasets

5. Experience with financial tools and databases (e.g., Bloomberg, FactSet, MSCI)

6. Experience with programming language is a plus (C/C++, Java, etc.)

7. One year of specialized experience performing the related duties and responsibilities is preferred.

8. A strong foundation in applied empirical analysis (experimental work in natural sciences, statistics, econometrics, data science) and facility with manipulating numbers, including programming skills
