Student Success and Well-Being – Pre-Health and Pre-Law

Pre-Health and Pre-Law (PHPL) guides students interested in careers in the health and legal professions that require study in professional school settings beyond the baccalaureate degree. The PHPL coordinators guide and support students through the multiple aspects of their preparation and application with the ultimate goal of helping them become a competitive professional school applicant.

The Opportunity:

UCF’s Academic Advancement Programs Office within the Student Success and Well-Being department is seeking applicants for an Academic Support Coordinator II. This role will focus on working with Pre-Health and Pre-Law students in professional school preparation. The person in this position must also have extensive knowledge of campus resources and Pre-Health and Pre-Law student resources to know when to refer appropriately.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in career development and significant exploration process for Pre-Health and Pre-Law students.
  • Works with students to develop a plan of progression to ensure they are on track to become competitive applicants to professional schools.
  • Coordinates social media, marketing, and communication-related to pre-health and pre-law preparation.
  • Actively participates in and coordinates mock interviews for Pre-Health students.
  • Coordinates the office's health professional school and law school recruitment service.
  • Presents on various workshop topics, orientations, student organizations, etc., on subjects related to our pre-health and pre-law students.
  • Assists in creating, updating, and monitoring the office's web courses and other documents.
  • Attends expos that are coordinated for undergraduate students to learn more about our office's services.
  • Also serves on committees within the Division and/or university when needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience. or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in higher education or at a university.
  • Advising experience.
  • Experience with Workday.
  • Experience in event planning and coordination.
  • Experience with a variety of social media platforms.
  • Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-directed.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workflow in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate and work in a team environment.
  • Ability to interact and collaborate effectively with diverse people and organizations.
