What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $25.00-$28.00 hourly. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but is not limited to:

Location

In this position you can expect to work on site at Denver international Maintenance Facility located about 5 minutes from the Denver International Airport. A full-time work schedule consisting of four days of ten-hour shifts per week.

Shifts Include:

  • Day Shift: 5:30AM to 4:00PM or 6:00AM to 4:30PM 
  • Swing Shift: 4:00PM to 2:30PM
  • Graveyard Shifts: 7:30PM to 6:00AM
  • On Call Snow Overtime: 3:30am to 3:30pm or 3:30pm to 3:30am

If staffing challenges occur, weather conditions warrant or an emergency crisis occurs, all DEN employees will be required to work extended hours and/or alternative shifts (includes nights, weekends, and holidays).

Mandatory extended/additional shifts are required for snow removal operations.

Shifts are not guaranteed and are subject to change. 7%-12% pay differential depending on shift assigned and equipment operated.

What You’ll Do

As an Equipment Operator at DEN you will also be part of our top notch airfield snow removal team. This team is responsible for snow removal on six runways. Five of the runways are 12,000 feet long and 150 feet wide, and one is 16,000 feet long and 200 feet wide (the longest commercial runway in North America) for a total of 12.2 million square feet. Denver International Airport is a 24/7/365 team operation.

You will be trained to work on the following field maintenance crews: 

  • Pavement Crew: Duties include spall repair, crack sealing on Airfield, handling MTC Calls, construction work, perimeter fence repairs, and mowing.
  • Asphalt Crew: Responsible for paving projects, crack sealing on property, roadways, and parking lots
  • Concrete Crew: Duties include panel replacement projects, from roads to Chem tank pads to fuel tank pads. Also maintains oil field roads on Airfield property.
  • Construction Crew: Handles construction needs, fences, asphalt work, erosion work. Also assists in airside and landside trash. 
  • Hot Shot Crew: Handles a little bit of everything; Construction needs, spall repairs in gate, MS4, and maintain movement areas as needed.
  • Parking Structure Crew: Maintains the West or East parking structure and tunnels top to bottom. They maintain the pet relief area and all landscaping needs. This crew also hands trash, clean up needs, and pressuring washing. 
  • East/West Airfield Pavement Crew: Perform repairs on Part 139 surfaces, spall repairs, erosion, and crack seal. This crew also performs pressure washing, Pena Blvd maintenance and non-movement pavement repair.

About You

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
  • Experience Requirement: Two (2) years of general labor experience which must include six (6) months of experience operating light to medium sized equipment.
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate experience may be substituted for the minimum education requirements.
  • License/Certifications: This job requires driving. Requires a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL "B") with appropriate endorsements at the time of application.
  • Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.

FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN). Employees are also required to report any felony convictions and/or moving violations to maintain this clearance and be eligible for continued employment. A pre-employment physical/drug test may be required.
