Position Overview

The Rockefeller Foundation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as the Managing Director of Technology Operations and Enterprise Architecture Management. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the Foundation's technology operations, infrastructure, and enterprise architecture to support our mission of promoting the well-being of humanity worldwide.

Pay Range: $218,270 - $266,218. This represents the present low and high end of the Foundation’s pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience. 

Work Schedule: This role is on a hybrid work schedule, and required to be in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Technology Operations and Infrastructure

  • Lead and manage the Foundation's technology operations, ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of technology systems.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Foundation's technology infrastructure, including networks, servers, databases, and cloud-based platforms.
  • Develop and implement IT policies, procedures, and standards to ensure efficient and effective technology operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address technology-related issues and challenges.

Enterprise Architecture Management

  • Develop and maintain the Foundation's enterprise architecture framework, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.
  • Define and enforce architectural standards, principles, and guidelines to ensure consistency and interoperability across technology systems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and prioritize technology investments that support the Foundation's strategic initiatives.
  • Conduct regular assessments of the Foundation's technology landscape, identifying opportunities for optimization and improvement.

Vendor Management and Partnerships

  • Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers, ensuring effective delivery of contracted services.
  • Evaluate and select technology vendors, negotiating contracts and agreements to ensure favorable terms and conditions.
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships with external organizations to leverage their expertise and resources in advancing the Foundation's technology goals.

Technology Strategy and Planning

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement the Foundation's technology strategy, aligning it with the overall organizational goals and objectives.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact on the Foundation's operations and programs.
  • Provide strategic guidance and recommendations on technology investments and initiatives.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
  • Lead and mentor a team of technology professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Foster a diverse and inclusive work environment, promoting equal opportunities, belonging, and leveraging the strengths of a diverse team.

Communications and Relationship Management

  • Engage effectively with experts in wider forums.
  • Facilitate partner interactions to advance Foundation strategy; lead a partner relationship towards a long-term technology goal.

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • 12+ years in technology leadership roles, with a focus on technology operations and enterprise architecture management.
  • Experience in leading and developing a team.
  • Strong understanding of technology trends, including cloud computing, data analytics, cybersecurity, and digital transformation.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing technology strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Proficiency in managing complex technology infrastructure, including networks, servers, databases, and cloud platforms.
  • Experience in enterprise architecture management methodologies and frameworks.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, solve problems, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Knowledge of ethical and responsible technology practices, including data privacy and security.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
