The PM CoE supports our audit and assurance practitioners with project coordination and administration.

In your role, you will be Assisting the Operations Manager, and wider management team, in the design, preparation, production, and implementation of Management Information reporting. Reviewing the integrity, structure, management, and use of centre-wide data to produce insightful reporting that supports strategic direction and decisions. 

The focus of the role is to design and produce core and ad hoc reporting from PM CoE systems and data using a variety of software including SQL, Power BI, and Excel. These will be for a mixed audience from juniors PSAs through to UK DC Senior Leadership at COO level. 

Key responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Data collection/manipulation 

  • Overseeing data extraction: ensuring format, structure, and relevance are clear 
  • On receipt of data, complete an in-depth assessment of the validity of data, troubleshoot any data issues to manage quality, and work with key stakeholders to rectify discrepancies 
  • Interrogate the data and complete actions to cleanse, normalise, and prepare ready for analysis 
  • Loading of data sets and supporting the ongoing requirement for a centralised data storage and warehousing 

Analysis & Report Creation 

  • Analysing large and complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights 
  • Creating data visualisations and reports to present data in a meaningful and easy-to-use way 
  • Maintain, update, and improve all reports withing the business reporting suite to support forecasting, modelling, performance and progress 

Knowledge/Upskilling 

  • Continued personal development in the knowledge of best practices for the Department when it comes to data structures and reporting 
  • Delivering training (alongside L&D team) to wider department on the use of reporting systems and reports 
  • Supporting the upskilling of the internal operations team to maintain and deliver reporting, identifying gaps in knowledge and working with L&D team to create learning curriculum 
  • Creating clear process guides and SOPs 
  • Investigate and review possible system options and complete requirements gathering/testing

ESSENTIAL:

  • Excellent time management, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, flexible, and adaptable to changing business needs
  • Able to work well under pressure and manage stakeholder expectations
  • Able to use own initiative, be proactive, and able to identify appropriate solutions to problems
  • Ability to analyse and interrogate data
  • A good working knowledge of MS programmes
  • Working experience of data manipulation and conversion tools such as SQL, Power BI, Tableau 
  • Strong knowledge and experience of Microsoft Excel (including formulae such as SUM, COUNT, IF, VLOOKUP, ISERROR) 
  • Previous experience of working with a structured programming language such as Python, VBA, SQL would be highly beneficial 
  • Experience in analysing large data sets including data warehousing and segmentation 

DESIRABLE:

  • Project/Programme management understanding or experience
  • Lean Six Sigma or equivalent process efficiency knowledge / experience

Personal independence

The PM CoE has moved on from being an engagement support centre of just 50 people to now identifying as a Centre of Excellence with circa. 300 professionals. The department is constantly evolving and still growing, it is fast-paced and varied comprising junior associate grades through to senior project and operational management and directors. All members of the department work together and alongside the Audit & Assurance practitioners to deliver high-quality outputs on client and internal engagements. The team members remove the admin burden on the wider A&A team by utilising experience and knowledge to undertake the service offering to a high standard.

The department boasts a clear career pathway allowing professional and driven individuals to work along a progression trajectory from associate to assistant project manager in four years, including formal Prince II practitioner accreditation. This pathway and progression is underpinned by it’s ability to deliver high-quality training that set’s all team members up for success.
