Pay Grade/Pay Range: $19.09-$23.86 *Actual pay depends on qualifications

Position Summary: Provide one-on-one individualized and drop-in tutoring services to students at JCCC. Demonstrate understanding of the unique learning needs of students and adapt to those individual needs. Remain current on subject matter in courses which they are assigned for tutoring. Maintain a working knowledge of learning strategies. Attend trainings on topics pertaining to tutoring techniques and working with students of varying abilities. Other responsibilities include referring students to appropriate resources, assisting students, faculty, and staff in the AAC, working in outreach programs, and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: Taken web development courses, as well as a degree in web development or a like

At least 2 years of tutoring or teaching experience

Experience working with students with disabilities

Well-developed communication and listening skills

Good organizational skills

Must be able to use email and online resources as well as help students with computer programs and online learning platforms

Ability to explain content material to students orally and in written form

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • TUTORING – Work 1:1 with specific students for the duration of their class on course-specific material and other learning strategy techniques. 
  • ASSIST IN DAILY ACTIVITIES OF THE AAC – Aid the other faculty and staff working in the AAC and support students in the AAC through drop-in tutoring. 
  • TRAINING – Attend training and department meetings as requested. 
  • COMMUNICATION – Tutor communicates effectively with students, the Tutor Coordinator and/or AAC Director, and all JCCC faculty and staff. 
  • MAINTAIN ETHICAL WORK BEHAVIORS – Exhibit good work ethics by being reliable and dedicated. 
  • Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity, may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing. Scheduling, shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.
