The Hewlett-Packard Enterprise Region Controllership organization has a Houston-based Expert levelSenior Financial Analyst role available.  This is an exciting role positioned in an organization with talented and dedicated finance professionals.  While we have key important deliverables and deadlines, we maintain a very flexible, open and fun work environment.  We recognize that our work is very important and so is our time outside of work. 

This role has frequent interaction with finance and business personnel across the globe and visibility with senior leaders in the Controllership, Tax, FP&A, and Business Finance Organizations.  The successful candidate for this role will be one who demonstrates a desire for excellence, thrives on achieving results through teamwork and partnership, and has sound technical accounting and communication skills.  This role reports directly to the US Controller & Legal Entity Accounting Director, and given the field of work and its visibility in the organization has a high potential for advancement.  If you are a strong motivated finance professional, looking to learn, grow and lead, and have fun doing it, this role may be a great fit for you.

Specific Responsibilities and Objectives:

This role focuses on ensuring the accuracy of the financial results in each of HPE’s legal entities and on preparing full year P&L forecasts based on business drivers and inter-company transactions. 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • US P&L forecasting
  • Help to build and improve the process around US 5 year P&L projections
  • Drive deep dive analysis to ensure proper pricing on inter-company sales into the US
  • Help drive continuous improvement in the US General Ledger
  • US General Ledger accuracy reviews
  • Manage the overall WW legal entity earnings forecasting model
  • Prepare P&L forecasts for several non-US entities
  • Perform thorough reviews of the quarterly foreign earnings forecast submissions received from the countries
  • Assist in supporting audits (internal and external) and SOX control testing requirements
  • Partner closely with the Income Tax Accounting, Tax Planning and other functions to stay current on changes within the company’s entity structure in order to properly reflect them in the P&L forecasts. 
  • Work closely with the M&A Team and Transfer Pricing Teams to ensure transactions are captured in legal entity P&L forecast
  • Currency reporting and analysis
  • Enable and support the understanding of legal entity forecasting concepts and requirements within the country team and other impacting/impacted organizations

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required/Master’s degree a strong plus, Finance or related field of study with a minimum of 8 years of accounting/finance experience  
  • Technical accounting / US GAAP experience required
  • 8+ years FP&A / forecasting experience required
  • CPA or similar professional accounting qualification is a plus
  • Experience working with large global companies and/or public accounting firm required
  • Previous knowledge of HPE business and environment a plus

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Very strong accounting knowledge and understanding of US GAAP
  • Ability to understand complex business transactions and the associated accounting, and translate that to downstream financial statement impact
  • Strong knowledge of P&L forecasting methods and techniques and ability to understand and communicate variances
  • Ability to manage critical timelines and comfortable with consolidating and working with large volumes of data coming from multiple sources.  Effective working under pressure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, effective and confident communicating with all levels of management
  • Able to collaborate to achieve results/common goals through others in a matrix organization. 
  • Ability/desire to work through detailed information to diagnose and correct issues
  • Excellent business application skills (incl. Business Warehouse, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint)
