As an Security Engineering Lead your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
  • responsible for the configuration, design, and administration of security tools for U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) systems managed by IBM
  • configure and manage security tools in compliance with Department of Defense requirements while also ensuring continued compliance for all devices
  • work with the security operations center team to ensure security devices/tools are configured properly to monitor, tracked, and analyze networks/systems for potential security violations while also assisting in all such potential incidents.
  • provide input to Certification and Accreditation (C&A) ) lifecycle and shall have a working knowledge of the DoD DIACAP / RMF C&A process, system security architectures best practices, security policies, technical security safeguards, and operational security measures.
  • provide Information security subject matter expertise throughout the tasking and translate security requirements into technical designs/solutions. 

IBM is hiring this position to be located at our Rocket Center, West Virginia office (near Cumberland, MD).   United States Citizenship, relocation to the Rocket Center area, and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance are required. (Active clearance is preferred)

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • In-depth understanding of TCP/IP, ports, protocols, and system functions (file I/O, registry, file permissions)
  • Ability to create formal documentation for systems administration, operations, and maintenance
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • 5 years- deploying, maintaining, and operating applications in an enterprise environment
  • 5 years-  troubleshooting application/network issues in a large environment
  • 3 years- Windows Server and Linux operating systems
  • 2 years- leading, coaching, and mentoring a team of technical personnel
  • 2 years- complying with of Federal and DoD security compliance directives (e.g., NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, DoD CCRSG)
  • 2 years- McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (HBSS) administration, operations, and maintenance
  • 2 years- Tenable SecurityCenter administration, operations, and maintenance;
  • Able to obtain Sec+ within 6 months (CISSP preferred)


United States

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

  • 1 year experience with Cisco operating systems
  • 1 year experience managing firewalls (Cisco/Juniper)
  • 1 year experience with implementing, operating, and maintaining content filtering applications;
  • 1 year experience with performing security in a cloud computing environment
  • Knowledge of Perl or other scripting language
  • Ability to develop and use Regular Expressions to query data
  • Knowledge of IBM and industry security tool suites and capabilities
  • BS of Computer Science, Engineering, Information technology, cyber-security or equivalent.
  • Active Secret Clearance
