We are seeking a Intermediate Mechanical Draftsman to join our Project Delivery Group (PDG).

Our engineering and project management and construction disciplines ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable delivery of projects globally across the metals and mining, infrastructure, and energy sectors.

As the successful candidate, you will: 

  • Perform the design and drafting of mechanical plant models using applicable standards, project technical specifications, criteria and project procedures. 
  • Prepare 3D layout and equipment models; including development of design details 
  • Generate 2D drawings from the 3D model; and perform checking 
  • Organize and store documents and models 
  • Understand the owner/user requirements and the project mission 
  • Assist in interpreting the plant PFDs, P&IDs, and plant battery limits and constraints 
  • Use vendor data, drawings and information to develop and verify the 3D model. 
  • Create and maintain models of all equipment as vendor data is received. 
  • Coordination with other designers and engineers on the project team. 
  • Perform clash detection 
  • Provide material quantity take offs for estimating purposes or inclusion into bulk commodity purchases and installation contracts. 
  • Demonstrates a strong personal commitment to Quality and Safety in design 
  • Works and communicates positively as the mechanical discipline lead within a multidisciplinary team of design leads 
  • Ensures mechanical design activities align with the overall project mission and user requirements 
  • Ensures successful delivery of major milestone reviews for all assigned design packages 
  • Delivers 3D model, drawings, and clash detection reports 
  • Performs checks of 3D models and drawings developed by others 
  • Responsible for managing budgets, schedule and deliverables related to the design 
  • Works with construction to align deliverables with contractual requirements 
  • Provides mentorship and supervision to the design team 
  • Provide regular feedback to the mechanical project lead on progress with preparation of deliverables 

You bring to the role: 

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • A qualification from technical college or equivalent with focus on Engineering, Design, 3D Modelling and 2D Drafting. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the 3-D/2-D mechanical design development of heavy industrial facilities; experience in mineral processing plants preferred. 
  • Designs proficiently in 3D and 2D design environments 
  • Experience working and coordinating within a multi-discipline design project 
  • Experience in mentoring young professionals 
  • Knowledge of project delivery, including the activities, interfaces, and interdependence of all project disciplines. 
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Strong ability to engage and coordinate the design with client representatives 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. 
  • Strong deliverable focus with a proven ability to attain quality and schedule objectives while maintaining budgets. 
  • Experience with greenfield and brownfield interfaces, including constructability experience 
  • Fluency in English and Polish
