Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Manager - Internal Communications Specialist (People & HR).

In this role, the successful candidate will support NYULHs People & HR function. This position will contribute to internal communications strategies by partnering closely with the Human Resources (HR) team to inform, engage, and inspire NYULH employees. This position will use communications to captivate employee stakeholders through storytelling that strengthens the employee experience and connection to the institution.

Reporting directly to the Director, Internal Communications & Relationship Lead for People & HR within the Communications & Marketing (C&M) department, this role will collaborate with key leadership across mission, academic, and corporate services to drive impactful communications for internal stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:

Relationship Management:

  • Support and maintain relationships with the HR team by acting as a trusted C&M subject matter advisor that helps them shape their agenda and proactively deploys communications tactics in alignment with the C&M strategy
  • Play a vital role in triaging and executing requests from HR team, partnering with teams in Brand, Experience, Creative, & Design COE, Content Strategy & Development COE, Media Relations COE, Program Measurement & Business Operations Platform, and Enterprise Communications COE as needed
  • Proactively identify innovative communications strategies and market trends; translate findings into actionable recommendations and strategic plans
  • Support and execute on novel communications campaigns, enhance current campaigns, and evaluate outcomes; report outcomes to the Internal Communications & Relationship Lead, and think through strategic adjustments to optimize as needed
  • Evaluate key metrics against key performance indicators (KPIs) and integrate insights into decision-making processes to maximize return on investment
  • Identify additional opportunities to drive employee engagement and connection to the institution for leadership consideration

Internal Communications Strategy & Content:

  • Understand and support the execution of an innovative communications strategy in alignment with NYULH’s institutional goals
  • Collaborate with the Internal Communications & Relationship Lead and HR to execute the communications strategy for employee populations (including special events, staff communications, townhalls, etc.)
  • Design communications with an employee experience lens and leverage change management best practices; capture the voices of stakeholders through active listening and then translate findings into impactful communications
  • Contribute to the roll-out of the communications strategy, working closely with the Internal Communications & Relationships Lead for People & HR to evaluate reception and modify tactics accordingly
  • Draft and edit materials aligned to the communications strategy on behalf of the Internal Communications & Relationship Lead
  • Design engaging programming for internal communications and raise recommendations to the Internal Communications & Relationship Lead for approval
  • Incorporate lessons learned from previous communications campaigns to ensure quality is aligned to established standards
  • Develop a deep understanding of channel (i.e., social, digital), audience, and engagement segmentation strategies that will disrupt the status quo and engage the institution
  • Support development of creative ways to engage the NYULH workforce, a significant portion of whom do not spend most of their day interfacing with a computer and instead work with patients and research (e.g., frontline staff)
  • Develop engaging content for the internal communications channels (e.g., intranet, email, in-person events, virtual events); regularly evaluate and improve the efficiency of the channels used
  • Ensure seamless communication alignment within a complex institution encompassing multiple campuses and geographic regions

Operational Excellence:

  • Monitor key metrics and outcomes to gauge the effectiveness of the communications strategy
  • Elevate the quality of communications to guarantee they meet or exceed established standards
  • Champion NYULH’s strong culture of continuous improvement

Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify you must have a 5+ years of experience working in an internal communications function in a highly regulated industry, preferably in an institutional or academic medical center setting

Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a journalistic ability to extract compelling stories from employees

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration

Creativity in devising communication strategies and familiarity with digital communication tools

Familiarity with information technology and digital communication mediums, including social media platforms

Strong leadership skills, demonstrating the ability to teach, motivate, and collaborate effectively

Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, or related field

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $76,721.84 - $127,869.56 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
