Software Engineer/Developer II, IT003, 100%, Academic Staff, Renewable, 12-month Appointment, one vacancy

This position is eligible for hybrid work consideration. Currently eligibility requires residency in one of the following states: Wisconsin or Minnesota upon hire.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Designs, develops, tests, debugs, operates, and troubleshoots software and applications to support information technology business operations.

UW-STANDARD JOB DESCRIPTION DUTIES:

  • Reviews application design specifications, codes new applications, and makes enhancements to existing applications.
  • Tests and debugs programs, and prepares systems test data.
  • Prepares program documentation and training requirements.
  • Develops or modifies technical specifications for moderately complex projects using disciplined software development practices.
  • Prepares detailed system design specifications for system integration and upgrades.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots applications, systems, or websites.
  • Implements data structure and systems performance strategies.

Other Duties:

  • Complete required trainings and professional development as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with peers, customers, and other stakeholders
  • Advanced knowledge of applications/software programming development
  • Knowledge of databases and tools such as SQL, MySQL, or Oracle
  • Knowledge and experience with software development
  • Knowledge of web technologies
  • Ability to learn new technologies

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • 4+ years of experience as an application developer in a professional work environment OR bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and 2+ years of experience

This position is currently ineligible for H1-B sponsorship. A qualification for this position includes independent eligibility to work within the United States upon hire date.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Experience as an Application Developer or Software Engineer
  • Experience with workflows ex) Power BI, BP Logix 
  • C# .NET Core / ASP.NET experience
  • SQL (Oracle or Microsoft)
  • WordPress experience

SALARY & BENEFITS: 

Salary range for this position is: $65,000 - $75,000 annually. Specific benefit information can be found here. A snapshot of benefits offered for this position include:
